The Darlington Hyde Park

We were upgraded to a lovely large room. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Great location so close to Paddington Station and beautiful Hyde Park. Handy connections to Heathrow. Nothing to report

Location There was nothing to dislike

We liked the location, the spaciousness of the rooms, the elevator, cleanliness and comfort. We weren't clear why we would have to pay for the "complimentary" English breakfast because we hadn't "booked directly."

Easy access to public transport and historical areas like Hyde Park, The National Museum, and Buckingham Palace. There is only one outlet in the room with the full sized bed which makes it difficult to charge phones and use the fan or TV at the same time.

Excellent location, clean, friendly and helpful staff Very basic breakfast. Breakfast bar could be open longer ( closes at 9.30am).

Location

The staff were lovely and very friendly. The room was clean and we had all the basics we needed, including soap and shower gel. The continental breakfast was sufficient and we could have ordered the cooked breakfast if we had wanted. The checkout time was not too early and to be able to drop off or leave our bags at the hotel while we went out on our first and final days was really useful. It is a perfect location for walking anywhere in Central London or travelling to and from Paddington. The fridge didn't really work and despite being given fans, the room was boiling as there was no fresh air coming in from the windows, due to the position of the room. The breakfast was fine but the tea was horrible! Probably the worst I've ever had! The staff were great though.

Great location. While everyone understands that there was a heatwave, it was impossible to stay in the rooms during those couple of days. No air conditioning, windows opening only a few centimeters. There was a standing ventilator in the room but too little for how hot was in the room

We liked the Reception staff. The room was cool and a good size I had emailed in advance to check that they could provide a gluten free and dairy free continental breakfast. I received an email assuring me that gluten free cereals and bread were available and soya milk. We went to breakfast and met quite unhelpful staff who initially asked if my two daughters wanted white or brown toast. They then said they only had a few slices of brown gluten free bread which was duly toasted There were no gluten free cereals or soya milk available so they both had two slices of gluten free bread toast and a glass of fruit juice for £13. One of my daughters did ask for fried egg and was initially told that's an extra £3 which your lovely receptionist didn't charge us for on leaving. Considering the fact that they had so much notice (I booked ages ago) the breakfast for me was fine but so disappointing for my daughters. Had we known that no effort was being made to provide a reasonable breakfast for the price we would have not included it and bought something delicious and at similar cost else in London. We are all really disappointed with it. The coffee wasn't great either as it was cold. Sorry wouldn't recommend this to other GF/dairy sensitive folk.

Attentive staff, room was clean Room is small, probably would have felt roomier if the bed was placed in a corner of the room. I arrived during the severe heatwaves that hit London last week and could barely open the window the get any relief (the window was bolted in so couldn't open it all the way). No AC. I traveled for business so it was not as comfortable of a stay as I would have wished.
