The accommodation exceeded expectations, the restaurant was beautiful and had a great time for a great experience in The City of Bristol. I liked everything that I experienced with the accommodation, the restaurant and the staff were great.

    Poor

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

The location was the only positive thing about this place. Toilets were disgusting and not fixed properly to the floor. One shower was completely out-of-order, the other had a broken shower head, no hook for a towel, a broken/no working extractor and probably full of air-borne viruses. Floors were filthy. This place is literally one step up from sleeping rough.

Nothing The Management was poor, smelling rooms, stuffed

Nothing Poor cleanliness, rude staff. Property cancelled our booking with no prior warning leaving us with no place to stay at 5pm on a Saturday. When speaking to the staff they refused to give any names or tell us who the manager was or even when they would be there, placed all of the blame on us and were very rude when speaking to us

It was on a nice area. The time to enter the property if no-one was on desk we had to go in bar

Nothing The worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The entire place smelled strongly of urine and weed, and there was absolutely no ventilation in the rooms, making the experience extremely unpleasant. They also tried to charge us extra just to store our bags, which is completely unreasonable. Overall, a horrible experience and definitely not somewhere I would stay again or recommend to anyone.

Location is the only good thing about this hostel. The hostel check in staff was disrespectful, mean, egotistical and full of attitude. Told us to cancel the booking and get out. Also, the rooms were stinking of bad smell. Washroom and bathroom count was not enough to the number of rooms and beds in the hostel. Also, there was one other guest in particular who was drunk and roaming naked in the middle of the night in the corridors who followed my friend around from the washroom to the room.

Nothing no redeeming features. You had to have a driving license or a passport to stay. Staff where rude and unhelpful. They charge 5 pounds for each item of luggage because you cant have any luggage in the dorm. I had 7 items. The place seems to be used by drug addicts. Nice that they have somewhere to go. I actually left and stayed else where because i felt so uncomfortable.

I did not like anything about my experience with this hostel. When I arrived there was no one to answer the buzzer. I had to go into the restaurant next door and someone had to go through to let me in, which kept me waiting even longer. When he did finally come to reception and let me in, he confirmed my booking and asked for my photo I'D and a £20 CASH deposit. When I placed the booking through Booking.com there was absolutely nothing mentioned about me needing photo I'D, or that I would have to pay a £20 deposit on top of the charge for the bed. I explained this to him and he said it would have been mentioned when I booked the bed.. IT WAS NOT. As for the I'D, I told him my passport has expired so I do not carry it. First of all, he told me I could "pop back home" to get it. As if I would be paying for a bed there if I was able to pop back home. Then when I told him I've travelled 200 miles so no, that isn't an option, he told me to get someone to take a picture of it and send it to me. He repeated this several times even though I had already told him that I live alone, there isn't anyone that can get into my home and my safe to get to my passport. I travelled to Bristol for a family members funeral. I travelled with the £40 for the bed, and just over £20 to buy myself a couple of meals whilst travelling, so I wasn't able to pay a £20 deposit, which he clearly stated MUST BE IN CASH. I left and didn't go back. That little money I had for food, I used to buy myself a coach ticket back home. I felt like absolute crap, knowing I was missing the funeral I had just travelled 200 miles for. If I have to travel to Bristol again, this place wouldn't even on the list of places to stay, I'd rather take a tent. I am out of pocket because of this, which there is no point trying to ask to be compensated for because it would be a complete waste of time.

Central location - Everything was super dirty, especially the toilets. The smell was awful and there was urine all over the toilet cubicle and toilet seat. If you are a girl, you know you won't be able to seat. - You don't have a key to open the front door so you have to use the buzzer and wait for someone. Sometimes they were working in the restaurant next door so you have to go there and ask someone to open the door. Also, you would hear the bell of the buzzer all the time, especially at night. It's a budget place, but there should be minimum hygiene standards to be met.
