Newport Beach Marriott Bayview

The lobby was welcoming and faced the bay. Spa water was readily available and replenished often. Our biggest disappointment was the upkeep (or lack thereof) of the pool area. Towels and dirty plates/cups were never picked up. Poolside service was not available while we were there at 4pm. The pool itself was cloudy and bottom needed serious cleaning. Probably the worst pool I’ve seen at a Marriott brand. When we mentioned our concerns to the front desk, we just got an apology and a confirmation that they’ll send someone to clean it. Very impersonal. Not that we expected it, but an offer of a complimentary drink or appetizer for the lack of poolside service would have shown true customer service and satisfaction. Also, the sofa bed was broken.

The hotel was clean and room was spacious. I just wish the pool was a little larger because there were no open seats. The food and coffee and little mini convenience store were all great! The staff were nice and helpful.

Be careful if you pay for bayview. You have a chance of getting "partial bay view" leaving you a view of the parking lot and a glimpse of the bay

The location is good and the staff were great. However, the property is very rundown and outdated. It’s definitely due for a remodel!

Exceptional

Staff was great and lobby looks nice when you walk in. Also enjoyed the complimentary lemon and hibiscus water. Rooms were old, dingy, and not very clean. Carpet needs to go... our allergies were going crazy. Furniture is old and dirty as well. Shower looks like a disaster. For this quality, price should have been cheap. Instead, they are charging premium prices for a old rundown rooms.

Ask what room you will be in. I had a 5 day stay there and overlooked their HVAC system. Pricey for the space. Restaurant is very overpriced and twice I got a stomach ache. I just felt like the level of care was low. The restaurant manager was the nicest person there.
