LSE Bankside House - Campus Accommodation

Perfect location if you're going to an evening production at The Globe. Also perfect for The Tate Modern & not far to walk from an Underground station. This is student accommodation so the rooms are basic but they are very comfortable and excellent value for money for London accommodation. Beds were comfortable, en suite shower was hot & good to use. I loved the extra touches with little toiletries & the towels shaped into swans! Breakfast was included & had an excellent range, including full cooked, pastries, cereal, fruit, cheese/meats - I can't think of anything else you'd want. Staff were very friendly & helpful. You can store your luggage before & after checkout. Quiet location. It was all great.

Perfect location and great breakfast. It’s a bit of an annoyance to not be able to drink the water from the bathroom tap. But at least there is a kitchen on each floor and a water dispenser in the lobby.

Breakfast was ok, but very chaotic for the first time user. It was easier the second time. Price was good, location was great. What I didn’t like was the NOISE!!! All night long. Yelling outside until 4:00-5:00 am and indoors as well. If the noise was alleviated I would have had a much better time. As it stands, if I could cancel my second reservation without penalty, as I return to London in a few days, I would. Noise was horrible. Outside, yelling and laughing all night into early morning. We couldn’t sleep. It was Exhausting and not a great way to start a trip. If I could cancel my second booking I would, but I have passed the day to do so and it is no not refundable.

The location, directly across from the Tate Modern is a plus. The daily full English breakfasts were also a big selling point. It is a great value if you understand that you are staying in a dorm. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. Don't stay in one of the rooms at the front of the building if you're looking for a full night sleep. It is very well-lit outside and becomes the designated smoking/party area. Most nights the noise, which was significant, stopped after midnight but several nights it went on past 1am and one night past 2am. Bankside House has a policy that asks residents to be quiet after 11pm but it's ignored. Also, being in a dorm means that you won't get regular room service. One of the reviews said that it was every 3 days and the front desk said every 6 days but we were there for a week and the correct answer is never.

The room was simple but good enough. It is just round the corner from the Tate Modern so the area is incredibly good though we saw how someone tried to snatch a man's mobile phone. Scary. The breakfast was amazing. A truly English breakfast with no restrictions as to the amount one can serve oneself. The quality and the variety were really satisfactory. I can't think of anything negative.
