Friendliness and helpfulness of staff Location Good value food A bit creaky

Friendly staff. Dated brown furniture, which although looked historically in keeping with the original building design; could have done with a little more colourful decor to lighten the dour image on entering.

The homely feel. Warm staff overall. It's a bit dated but this sort of adds to the homely feel. Perfectly

Comfy bed and good shower. It’s an old building so a bit dated but it was clean and well maintained. Nothing

Impressive building, entrance, car park and foyer, very extensive. Good lift elevator up to 3rd floor. Room 346 was rear facing, excellent for peace & quiet. Room was well appointed, very useable modern walk in shower unit & everything worked. Bed comfortable, plenty of plug points, tv worked, a decent nights sleep too. Breakfast in the morning was well organised and a multi choice of breakfast items to select from. Staff smartly dressed and friendly. I would not hesitate in staying here again. Bedroom door could do with a lick of paint, but not vital or intrusive of my stay.

A charming old school hotel. Fantastic location for the centre of Harrogate. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Very attentive staff. The place is a little rough around the edges but that add to the old school charm.

The location was great, really easy to walk into Harrogate. The free parking was a factor in booking this hotel. There was a really excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Vegetarians are catered for. The staff were all really friendly. We had to wait quite a while to check in as there was only one person on reception. The room was tired, and outdated, there was pealing wall paper and fraying carpet in our room. We were placed at the back of the hotel with a large vent outside the window. It was disappointing but we didn’t complain as we were only staying one night. I would have asked to be moved if we’d been there longer. The bedspread was very badly pilled I think they should invest in replacements if they are the same in other rooms.

Lovely entrance into the hotel. Location, clean and comfortable with a spacious room. A good variety available for breakfast which was included with my booking. Plenty of car park space. Lifts to floors. The only downside was the WiFi,poor signal which was explained on 'welcome letter' and musty smell on approach to the room.

At first glance all was ok. Bar Staff were nice. The wall was so thin that the man snoring next door kept me awake all night and in the morning the couple (making a normal amount of noise) woke me again. I may as well have been sharing a tent with them. The shower did not work at all so had to have a bath. No soap for hands. I think this hotel have given up. I looked them up on Google and it did say that they have just gone into administration. I was not surprised. Gaynor working on reception could not give a hoot and was very rude when I rang down to complain. She did not offer to help in any way.

Excellent value Nothing really.

Hotel needs a refurb. Very dated. Some staff at breakfast didn't want to be there and got basic communication wrong. Like I would like coffee please. Then walked away and turned around and said "tea"? No coffee. But still brought out tea! Bathroom was very small.you had to open the door slightly then manoeuvre in and shut the door. The whole place needed a coat of paint. It was a huge Hotel and needs a lot of TLC. Service at the breakfast table. Reception guy was very snappy and not welcoming.
