Complaint regarding card details requested at check-in – The Sydney Hotel Bologna Dear Booking.com Customer Service, I would like to formally report an incident that occurred when I checked in at The Sydney Hotel Bologna. My reservation had already been fully paid through Booking.com. I had also received a message from Booking.com advising me not to provide my bank or card details because the reservation had already been paid. Despite this, the receptionist asked me to provide my card details at check-in. I initially started writing down my card number, but my daughter advised me not to continue, so I stopped. The receptionist then specifically asked me for my card expiry date and the three-digit security code (CVV). I refused to provide these details and explained that my reservation had already been paid through Booking.com. After I refused, the receptionist became rather patronising and eventually gave up. I fully understand that a hotel may legitimately need to verify a payment card or place a pre-authorisation for incidentals. However, I am concerned about being asked to provide my full card details, particularly the CVV, when the reservation had already been paid and Booking.com had specifically advised me not to provide such information. I would therefore like Booking.com to clarify: 1. Whether the hotel was actually authorised or required to collect these card details under its policy for my reservation. 2. Whether asking a guest to provide the full card number, expiry date and CVV is consistent with Booking.com’s security procedures. 3. Whether the receptionist’s conduct was appropriate in these circumstances. I would appreciate it if this incident could be formally recorded and investigated. I would also like confirmation of whether any further action is recommended regarding the security of my payment information. Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response. Kind regards, Sid Mokhtari

Friendly staff, dealt with all inquiries and issues quickly. Had to change room due to consistent smell from bathroom. Staff handled this well. Quick resolution.

Comfortable rooms, good breakfast. But the breakfast room was really crowded and felt very hectic. We ordered pina colada and daiquiri at the bar, and they served the pina colada not frozen, and daiquiri was, well let's say disappointing. The pool area is nice but you have to pay 3 Eu for the towels, pp/pd. One would expect free towel service in a 4 start hotel.

Hotel very close to the highway and with a very nice restaurant. very good breakfast. The hotel was super busy, the swimming pool was rather small for all the people whom the hotel could allocate, and considering the number of rooms and floors, there were only 2 elevators, so we had to wait long time to go to the 5th floor.

I'd read other reviews that said it was a bit run down, but we didn't think so. Easy to find as it's need the motorway. Staff were very helpful. Rooms was good for 5 people for a night. If we stayed longer it would have been a squeeze. Breakfast was brilliant - very busy, but lots of seating. a 10 minute taxi into town which saves a lot of money compared to staying in the centre. Pool was a bit small for the size of hotel but very welcome in the heat. Bar was good. Our air-con was smelly. They came and looked at it quickly but could not fix it during our stay.
