I liked the location close to everything. The staff were amazing friendly and helpful! Beds were super soft and comfortable. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didnt work so everything went steamy and yuck. The bathroom drain stank in the mornings like something was trapped in there. Overall couldnt complain didnt really mind.

I have stayed here before as it was close to my business contacts. The reception would not accept my digital license one that I used last time I stayed there and the same license I used on an airoplane to get there. I have used this digital license which is now an acceptable form in New Zealand. The Receptionist was rude to me and would not accept anything I said to the point I considered taking out a personal grievance against her. As I know this would have no affect I left it. I was very disappointed in the way I was treated and ended up staying at the airport in a chair! After this encounter I have taken a serious look at using Booking.com who I have been using for well over 25 years!Pissed

The receptionist helped me down the stairs to go out as the hotel doesn't have a ramp and I have a walker for my mobility. The approach to taking a deposit when I had paid in total.im 77 years young and have stayed numerous times at Kiwi.

The is good nearby the City The Location

  • Engine customer Apr 2026

Excellent location close to the city center and many shops, restaurants and parks. The front desk was friendly and accommodating. They let us leave our suitcases in a safe room for a whole day after we had checked out. The lobby and lounge space on the first floor was nice. The rooms were spartan but clean. It's also very convenient for day tours out of Auckland, as it seems to be the last place tours pick up in the morning and the first place to be dropped off in the evening. The best value for money among the many hotels I looked through here. Seeing an "earthquake prone building" side just inside the lobby door is a little disconcerting. The hotel as a whole as well as our room were clean and nice enough for a short stay, but it felt a little weather-beaten. The worst and immediately unsafe thing was the shower. The nozzle couldn't be moved, and it immediately poured out near-scalding water. It was also very hair-trigger, either too hot or too cold. The soap&shampoo provided was U.S. motel level small. The toilet was also unusually small&low, and it threw out my back not once but twice. We also had to ask at the front for more soap, shampoo and toilet paper as they were not automatically refreshed every day, even though we were there for 3 nights/4 days. Finally, it wasn't the hotel's fault at all but the park under the hotel was very noisy at night. One very late night a person/people seemed to be having a private rave until a police car shushed them. Another night the city garbage collection was banging large metal dumpsters around in the early hours of the morning. These are of course probably outside of the hotel's jurisdiction, but since there was no A/C we had to keep the windows open and wait for the noise to stop. It is still a very acceptable place for budget travelers to have easy access to all that Auckland and its surrounding tourist attractions.

Location is very central, right next to Queen Street and K-Hape Road. Great if you don't have a car and are in the city. Room was quiet and check-in/check-out was relatively easy. Wifi was usable as well. I recommend for this place for one person that needs an easy place to stay for a short visit to Auckland city center. No AC, it was very warm in the afternoon but by nighttime is was more comfortable. Single room was small but fine for one person without much luggage. Overall, I had no major issues. It was fine for one night.

If you have a car (FCFS), but I didn't so it wasn't a big deal!
