Good location and very friendly staff A bit noisy as on main road

Excellent location, good breakfast. Loud live music, room was vibrating. Room No.2. I understand its a pub but Nothing in details when booking. Booked x 2 deluxe rooms but one room very small in yard next to pub beer garden and car park. Room No. 7. Both rooms had mirrors away from plugs so unable to see yourself drying your hair. Both rooms very small bathrooms.

Very convenient for central York, staff were friendly and the room was excellent. Recommended.

The room outside was lovely. The pub has some great staff and the back beer garden setting was great.

The digital lock on the external door was faulty. Consequently I was unable to gain access and sleep in my room

Breakfast was lovely

Breakfast was excellent. Ten minute walk to the centre brilliant for sightseeing an restaurants. Would of liked a set of drawers in our room not a lot of space for clothes. Otherwise was happy with our room.

Location was good Nothing

The best thing about this property is the location. It is within walking distance of the City centre and all the main attractions. There is also a car park which is a bonus but could get busy. Any staff we came across were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there were several things we didn’t like about this property. There are six rooms on 3 floors accessible by a narrow staircase. This may be a problem for the less mobile. The stair carpet needed vacuuming or replacement. Our room at the top of the building had minimal furniture. There were no side tables and I ended up using the one chair as my bedside table. The carpet was stained. The worst thing about the room was the bathroom. The shower unit needed a good clean. There was mould behind the sink and the smell was unbearable. We couldn’t leave the bathroom door open as the bedroom became smelly as well. There was nowhere to hang our towels. We were told there was a rail in the bathroom but this was more like a shelf than a rail to hang towels and certainly not if they were damp. Finally the breakfast was minimal with not much choice.

Proximity to city centre fantastic, the breakfast very good. The staff friendly & helpful. The room was very warm and the bathroom too tiny, inadequate space for clothes no draws , also nowhere to sit apart from the bed.

Amazing location - just a few minutes walk to the Minster. Great to have parking. Lovely staff. Big room and comfy bed. Breakfast is very specifically 0900-0930 for residents. We got there at 0900 but had to wait 10 minutes to be asked about tea or coffee, another 10 before our orders were taken. It took 45 minutes after we sat down for our breakfast to be served!! There were only 4 other people who were there for breakfast - it was not busy!! Let them down, as otherwise it was great.
