Hotel Ballast Wilmington, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Sugo Steakhouse (inside the hotel) was fantasic! However, our room was cold, we couldn't control the temperature & we both left with sore throats. The front desk promised to send someone to check the system, but no one ever showed. In addition, housekeeping service was very late ( after 4pm) & they totally neglected cleaning our room the night prior to our departure.

The staff was great as we come to expect the room was clean. Little surprised and disappointed at the small pool. Photos are a bit deceiving and when it’s busy there was no loungers. The location is great lots of good food in the area. Overall we would stay here again.

Hotel is a little run down. Pillows were terrible but can’t beat the location and views and great pool area.

The rooms were clean. The bathrooms were clean. There was no water pressure though in the shower. The carpet in the spiraling staircase downstairs was worn. The drinks at the bar were great. The food at breakfast was excellent. And the location can’t be beat.

Rooms were not the cleanest, pool area not inviting and a small fridge in room would be helpful. Parking was easy and convenient. Staff very nice and helpful. Coffee in lobby was nice.

Lovely hotel. The only problem was at the check-in because Hilton had a system-wide software problem and the Ballast had to check everyone in the old fashioned way, which of course took forever. After that, everything was very nice.

Other Hotel do give breakfast 🧇 for free and they are even less expensive They said check in time ⌚ was 4pm 🕓 but I got there thy said they are cleaning the room I have to wait more than an hour 👀

Once the system was back up and we checked in, we got interrupted twice during the night. Once when they gave someone else a key to our room. And an hour later when the manager asked for our last name. Amenities were just eh. Not very clean. Very old and outdated. Our ceiling in the shower had mold spores ALL over.

Rather than receiving accurate information from hotel staff, I learned the status from other guests. A hotel manager only weakly informed us that rooms were being double-booked with occupied guests and check-in would be delayed. I stood in line for two hours before receiving a room key. The room key I was given opened a room that was already occupied. Only because I knocked before entering did we avoid a serious incident with the current occupant. Mildew/Mold - Our room was at the end of one of the towers that strongly smelled of mold/mildew. This was substantiated when I entered a vending area and observed exposed pipes and a broken and stained ceiling with a sign indicating that vending service tower was not available.

Should not have to pay to park!

Staff was generally uninformed about both the area and hotel amenities. Also AC in room was not working (In July of all months) and did not get fixed or receive any credit for the room. Not 5 star.

Nice spot right in the heart of downtown Wilmington. One of the best valets I’ve ever experienced and all staff was so friendly. I would definitely stay again.

The overall stay was okay. The rooms and hotel over all need a huge upgrade. The property is close to all the shops and restaurants are with in a walking distance.
