König von Ungarn
About König von Ungarn
Vienna's oldest hotel is located directly in the city center, only 164 feet away from Saint Stephen's Cathedral and in the immediate vicinity of many other sights. Free WiFi is available, and a parking garage can be found within 984 feet of the property (available for a surcharge). Founded in 1746, Hotel König von Ungarn (King of Hungary) first served as the guest house of the archbishop and is especially popular with cultural travelers and lovers of opera, concerts and theater. All rooms are individually designed and charmingly furnished. The glass-covered interior courtyard invites to relax in a traditional ambiance. Enjoy a diverse selection of refreshing aperitifs and cocktails at our Atrium Bar while you soak in the soothing ambiance of our oasis. Our bar offers a variety of small, warm snacks that perfectly complement your drinks, making your stay with us a delightful experience. A short walk of a few minutes takes you via St. Stephen's Square and Kärntner Straße to the State Opera. Stephansplatz Underground Station that connects to Line U1 and U3 can be reached within a 3-minute walk. The name was inspired by the Hungarian nobility, who used to stay here in the times of the empire. In the adjacent Mozart House, Mozart composed “The Marriage of Figaro”. Hotel König von Ungarn is mentioned in books by Sándor Márai and Julio Cortázar, among others.

Everything! Top notch hotel, wonderful location, very friendly staff and very nice breakfast. They do think about their customers.
-
Very near (2 min walk ) to the St Stephan’s cathedral and Stephanoplaz !!

The hotel is the second oldest in Vienna and the rooms, bar area and dining room reflect the beauty and charm of a stately hotel. It is in a perfect location in the city near the cathedral. Despite its age, the facilities are modern, well preserved and extremely comfortable! The staff are very professional, friendly and accommodating to the needs of guests. Our room was beautiful, quiet, clean and spacious. The bathroom and shower area was wonderful as well. The breakfast included in our room was plentiful and delicious. We loved our stay there and would highly recommend it to those traveling to Vienna! Nothing!

We were greeted by friendly professional staff who showed us to a beautifully appointed room. Every comfort was provided and it was exceptionally quiet. The bar downstairs was welcoming and relaxing, and breakfast was fresh and varied with excellent service. The location was very central and we were able to walk to most attractions. Nothing.

The bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was huge. The free breakfast was very good. Just steps away from the main square. A/C worked GREAT on 103 degree days. There was only bar food for the evenings. Reviews for dinners were several years old.

Simply the best hotel in Vienna
-
I arrived a bit early and was allowed to check in around 11:30 am. It was great!

Location is very good. Rooms are excelent (feels like a real historic hotel), brackfast is very good, the staff are very friendly, rooms are very clean Old school lock (keys) for the rooms. Electronic cards would have been nicer
-
Hotel rich with history and comfortable rooms. Also the rooms are super soundproofed. I never heard anything from the street or rooms around me. Lovely peace and quiet. It felt very old Vienna. Amazing location (attached to Mozart’s residence). The front desk staff were a bit slow when I was checking in. I think some of the staff might have been new.
-
Very nice location, Easter breakfast had colored eggs. Nice bar inside the hotel.
-
Probably not that important for a short stay and a bit subjective, but in my opinion a gym is missing.
-
Lovely old hotel Not enough electric outlets
-
The maisonette was perfect for our family of two adults and two teens. The hotel is in a wonderful location near the cathedral. The staff were very helpful, recommending several excellent restaurants.
-
Location, staff and style Toilet separate from bathroom, though this is not too strange as the hotel is very old.
-
In general we love this hotel for it location, staff and general feel. The bathtub in room 101 is “dangerous” to get in or out of. You worry about slipping every time you take a shower. It is a hassle to put the mat every day and get in/out. It is high and not easy to use.

-
Fantastic location right next to Stephansplatz and Mozart’s home!

All are good. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, especially at the front desk. Room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with a fantastic city view. Great value and a truly pleasant experience. I'll definitely be back!

Rooms were nicely appointed and the atrium bar is wonderful. Michael at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure the 5 of us were comfortable and taken care of. Location could not be better! Nothing
