Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa

Nice hotel, conveniently located. The WIFI did not work well in our room... I was frequently having to restart my phone/devices and my children stated they were unexpectedly timed out a lot.

Lobby, facilities, garden was beautiful. They were able to hold our luggage after check-out and before our evening flight. Common areas were beautiful but the room was definitely dated. Toilet was leaking and we saw tiny cockroaches in the bathroom at night. This was our 3rd hotel for our 2-week Japan trip and this hotel and location was at the bottom of the list. It did its purpose (close to Shinkansen Shinagawa station and a quick cab ride to Haneda airport) for our last 2 nights before flying back home... but there are other areas that would suit a Japan family trip better. The hotel is mainly for business purposes. This hotel did not feel welcoming to families.

nothing - i this hotel is only good for conference events the club lounge was terrible. small. max 45 minutes and average 30-60 minutes waiting.. wants the point of paying for club if it cant be used. also food drinks menu very limited and only japanese.. no international varity

The AC wasn't very strong, even if you increase the speed. The hill to the hotel is a bit much for weaker travelers.

The rooms were a bit dark and old and the bathroom felt old as well. The shower worked well but all and all it seems like this hotel needs to be renovated soon.

Bed was extremely comfortable and an amazing view as pictured. Thank you for the generous hospitality and gift to celebrate our occasion! The shower curtain made it difficult to shower without getting water spillage.

Overall ambience. 1. At the coffee shop we requested to give us table facing garden. We were informed by staff that unless you have reservation this particular table facing garden cannot be given. Table was allotted to a Japanese couple who came after us. We occupied another table. Next day I went to make reservation and was told that coffee shop does not reserve table and it is first come first serve basis. 2. We requested concierge desk to help us collect luggage from room at 7am for check out. They flatly refused stating that at this hour there is no facility. We then informed reception and senior staff there who arranged luggage collection at 7am. This behaviour from junior staff is not acceptable for overseas guests staying in hotel.

The rooms are pretty dated.

The lobby was nice. The carpets were filthy in the rooms. It was very outdated. Each staff member I encountered was very rude, like I was beneath them. They also had an attitude.

Everything

Gorgeous, very large hotel. Loved that breakfast was included. Beautiful gardens. Loved all the amenities onsite such as several restaurants, bar and even a 7-11. The Japanese garden was incredible especially at night. Beds were a bit too firm.

The location was a little too far “uphill” from the train station especially when you are carrying shopping bags…about a 5-10 min walk. (Didn’t help that it rained one day so you have to carry your umbrella plus shopping bags) Also, there wasn’t a place where guests can just lounge, talk stories, eat/ drink without having to eat at a restaurant.

Well maintained and comfortable and clean. Nice to have 7 Eleven in the basement Restaurants and bars closed early. No common space to eat or drink outside of those areas. Not all staff spoke English
