Breakfast was fine. The plate wasn’t very warm for a hot breakfast and the maple butter couldn’t pour because it and its little jug were cold. Room was a little small for two people but I guess that’s what I booked so my fault♂️

Café downstairs very good. Room well appointed for its small size. Bed not very comfortable. Shower a bit cramped.

Breakfast good Bed poorly made. I am tall. Beds not tucked in properly are really annoying.

Beautiful and architecturally interesting hotel in a great location. Shared areas very cosy, food great, excellent for socialising. Like most hotels, no top sheet, just a very thick quilt. No fresh air, bedrooms small, no chairs, no handheld shower. My room was on L17 so the loud dance music from the bar in L18 kept me awake until 1:30. Ask for a mid-level room

Awesome hotel with a very cool design. Everything was perfect. Next time I might see if we can get a room where the window is not so far up the wall.

We stayed at Ace Hotel for the city to surf, because it was within walking distance of the start line. So, it was very convenient. But beyond that, it was actually a really great hotel and I would definitely stay again. We had a room with a large window seat (lounge), an incredibly comfortable bed, a bath in the bathroom with bath salts etc (much appreciated after the run). We got room service on our second night and it's one of the best burgers I've had in awhile. The cafe downstairs was great for coffee. We didn't eat breakfast at the cafe, but it looked great and had a really nice atmosphere. There's also restaurant and bar upstairs which, despite not eating/drinking there, we had a look and it looked very cool, cozy and had a great vibe. Parking isn't ideal, but we managed to get a park at Secure Park on Goulburn street with cost about $90 for the 2 nights (Saturday and Sunday)

The Ace hotel is hip and cool and the fit out and facilities are avantgarde. I booked this hotel for a birthday experience for my partner. The pictures look amazing and the hotel presents well on the web. Unfortunately, we booked to stay from Sunday. This was a mistake as the Ace does not accept cash and thus leaves an international visitor no other option than a credit card. On arrival there was small sign stuck to the back of the computer screens stating that they won't accept cash and the standard credit card surcharge is 1.5%. ( that's ok) However Sundays attract a 10% surcharge and public holidays 15%. Im ok with public holidays surcharges, but slugging travelers 10% to check in on Sundays is a wrought especially when there is no other method of payment on arrival. When questioned about the 10% surcharge the receptionist quipped that this was the law!! I paid but noted i believed it wasn't law. I checked the law; Sunday surcharge is discretional not law. Ace Hotel you do not state that you charge a 10% surcharge on your website or external communications. I visited the reception the next day to submit my interpretation of the law and was told the manager would be in touch. This hotel has a cool vibe with nice bars and furnishing but the rooms are small and definitely not 4 or 5 stars! The room was not cleaned until late Monday and they did a very average job on the other days. Ace hotel you could be a lot better, Im still waiting to hear from the manager? Lesson DONT CHECK INTO THE ACE ON SUNDAY WITH A CREDIT CARD !!
