Excellent location for the castle, old town jail and Holy Rude church. On site parking too! Great for a family stay with on-suite bathroom/shower. Bunk beds are ok, just a little short for someone over six feet tall but comfortable enough after an exhausting day of walking.

    All good

Great value close to Castle. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Room had a multi strip for charging which was helpful. Couldn’t sit on beds and read. Bunk above was to close and had to duck your head. No reading lights.

Very clean, cool old building with historical relevance & outside architectural interest. Staff was exceptional and even carried my bag upstairs for me! Bed was comfortable and shower was hot with great water pressure! Staff is excellent-they let me check in a couple hours early and even lent me their personal fan for overnight use-super generous of him and very much appreciated! I booked a room to myself & it met my basic needs. Unlike some of the reviews I read, I found it to be fairly quiet! I honestly felt bad about the noise I made from squeaking floors in my room as I moved about. No lift, which wasn’t a big deal-but something to be considered, as it’s an uphill walk from the train station just to get there. Only one towel provided and no shower gel/soap. I happen to have my own loofa and just filled it with soap from sink dispenser before jumping in and it worked out fine for me.

    - very close to attractions - nice staff - quiet (even on a Saturday night in the summer!) - free towels -good kitchen and common areas - easy parking Nothing! We really enjoyed our stay! It could be a difficult location for those with mobility issues as there was no lift/elevator.

The location was great. Right in the heart of town. The Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was steaming hot and there was no way of cooling it off. The window could be open just a sliver. The Staff at the desk provided a fan, and that was helpful, but something needs to be done about that. Also, guests should be told when checking in that water in the room is not drinkable. there are notices over the sink, but they can be overlooked.

The lady that greeted us (Jennifer I think) was so friendly. She gave us a lot of tips for when we visited Skye and gave us a great recommendation for dinner. I wish it hadn't been fully booked and we could have stayed another night or two.

Excellent location. Amazing what they’ve done with this historic building. Some parking available based on demand. Wish breakfast had gone a bit longer, maybe until 10 am checkout.

The beds were very uncomfortable an you could feel the springs poking through the mattress.

This is the second time we've stayed at Stirling Hostel. The first was over 20 years ago and though much has changed, the overall feel and impression of the place is the same. That is clean, friendly and super convenient location! Would highly recommend for anyone traveling to Stirling and looking for an affordable, safe, clean option that's right next to the castle and city center. The pillows were not as comfy and one would like, and there is no elevator but these are minor concerns unless heath issues prevent using steps. Parking is also limited so arriving early and walking is highly recommended.

Great location, very helpful staff, dining room and self catering kitchen had everything you could need. Very relaxed atmosphere. I would stay here again without hesitation. Minor maintenance issues in room — peeling coving on base of wall, broken hanger. Nothing that would stop me from staying, just a little scruffy.

Limited parking but ample street parking. Nice circular drive and plenty of room to drop your baggage before finding parking a short walk away.

  • Engine customer May 2026

Location and amenities. It was so quiet and staff were there to make the place function. Missed opportunity to create a fun environment.

Very nice double en suite, good shower, lovely room with high ceiling, great view, very unique Nothing. Everything was great! Best hostel we've stayed in!

Excellent location in an awesome building. I liked sitting in the canteen sofa with a coffee looking over Stirling and the hills. It was very quiet and peaceful, especially for being so central. Not sure about the idea of en suite because I felt like I'm interrupting my roommates by having to shower and use the toilet in our bedroom and also to wash my hands right next to their bed. Otherwise the facilities were all good really, but would prefer going for a separate room for these.

The view from our room was amazing as it had two windows overlooking the old jail building nextdoor, the tombstones around the building and the town/countryside below. All in all the facilities were not bad to be a hostel, and the room was very spacious. Surprisingly, the shower was not bad. We were there only for one night and it was a nice experience There were two flights of stairs with no elevators and there was no drinking water in the room, only in the kitchen at ground floor. The room was a bit dated (one of the windows was a bit rotten and it was not possible to open it). The bed was hard as a rock, albeit not as uncomfortable as we were expecting. We didn't have the possibility to drop off our luggage (but were told it's possible to arrange so the day before), and the check-in is quite late.

Location. Cleanliness. Comfortable beds. Nothing really. Just a bit dated.

It is located next door to the old Town Jail, just down the hill from Stirling Castle, around the corner from great dining options and the metropolitan bus stops at the driveway. The staff is exceptionally helpful. The room was immaculate and quiet.

Fantastic location in historic building. Wonderful communal areas including roomy well equipped kitchen, great opportunity to meet and share stories with fellow travelers. Very safe. Situated up a hill, but I loved walking down to Stirling in the beginning of the day….. so not really complaining.

  • Engine customer Sep 2025

The location (although you had to walk up a hill) was excellent. You were in the center of history with the jail next door and the castle a little farther up the hill. There was parking for those who needed it. Shower was great. You were able to use the kitchen downstairs to cook or fill your water bottle (can't in the room). Breakfast was adequate - cereals, some fruit, yogurt, juices, tea and coffee. Staff was great as well. No complaints
