The Golden Lion Hotel
About The Golden Lion Hotel
The Golden Lion Hotel has welcomed guests, including royalty, for more than 200 years. The Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote a poem on a hotel window frame, a plaque commemorating this is located on the hotel’s front. Located in Stirling city center, it has free parking, a traditional bar and a restaurant serving Scottish beef and lamb. The family-owned Golden Lion offers modern rooms, each with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, tea and coffee and ironing facilities. Each bathroom has a hairdryer, bath and shower. There are shops, bars and cafes on the hotel doorstep, and the magnificent Stirling Castle is just 0.6 miles away. The William Wallace Monument is less than 10-minutes drive from the Golden Lion. The Cronies Bar has light bar meals, and stocks a range of malt whiskeys. The adjacent Cronies Restaurant, serving afternoon teas daily, also offers a tasty breakfast and a varied, creative menu, including locally caught seafood. Stirling’s main bus and rail stations are within 5 minutes’ walking distance.

Location was perfect, comfortable beds, good breakfast, very friendly staff The lift needs replacing, we were on the 5th floor and the lift was extremely slow and only allowed 3 people in at a time. The shower head was poor The chairs in the bar were threadbare and need replacing

Location was excellent. Size of room. Room seemed unfinished and dated. Seemed as though old doors were used as replacements. Plus bathroom refurbishments looked like they had been recycled, and not well finished. No Air con.

Great location for attending an event Was rather expensive

Staff were brilliant. Room was a bit hot as high up but reception gave me a fan. Parking!!! Difficult to find car park and difficult to find space

Have stayed here on a few occasions. Great Central position , nice bar and reception area. Nice to see they have attempted to clean up the parking area. The hotel is making more progress with the New owner which is good to see. I had a budget room which I was alittle worried about but was better than I expected . Staff are friendly . Nothing springs to mind.

Very friendly Hotel Exalent staff Very helpful and friendly Nothing I can think of
-
Central location. Decor in keeping with hotel’s history but still providing comfortable, modern accommodation. Nothing important that would put me off staying again.

Great location with parking in a town where parking is difficult. Historic feel of the place. The room had no hooks or places to hang clothes.

The best things about this place were: - Free private parking 1min from the hotel - Positioning, you are pretty much in the center of Stirling - Main hall, very aesthetic but pretty old-fashioned (Gatsby style) Anyway I think it was probably one of the cheapest around. Elevator wasn't working the day we arrived, we had to climb up 4 floors with luggage, without any help. Wi-Fi wasn't working in the room. The room was clean for their standard but pretty old and the window had the worst view of my life. I would think of better services seeing how big the place is, how much prestige it radiates and how many people are involved in their staff.
