The elevator was kinda slow but not much else.

The atmosphere, the staff, the food, the coffee, the view from the roof. I don’t have negative except no gratis token memento souvenirs to have.

The Society Hotel is right in the heart of downtown and within walking distance of many Portland favs. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the price for a private room with a shared bathroom was perfect for our budget. The building is gorgeous, historic, and cozy with a rad rooftop for viewing the sunset!

Wanted to visit both the Portland Japanese Garden & Chinese Garden that’s 1 block from the Society Hotel. The S.H. staff were SO accommodating! Last time I stayed there was in 2018 and this current stay was just as wonderful. n/a

The cafe on the ground floor is nice. Good way to get good coffee. The rooms are the most basic rooms you could possibly imagine. Just a bed and a sink and nothing else. Basically 0 floor space. They smell a bit weird. But you’re literally just paying for the bed. And you have to share a bathroom with 7 other rooms.

The coffee and staff. Very small rooms but its ok.
-
Very clean, very comfortable and intelligently designed The surrounding area of Portland was surprisingly smelly and dirty. The hotel at South, however was fantastic.

Cool vibe & love the location! Downtown Portland is picturesque. Clean & a nice vibe

The private room was simple and cozy, exactly what I needed for a solo stay. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure and temperature were perfect. Bedside lamps were convenient when I didn't want the big overhead light on. There are no shelves in the shower, so I had to sit everything the the shower floor–not ideal. Only a small cubby and hangers in the room, I was there 4 nights so I packed a lot. I made it work, but a little 3-drawer chest would've been better!
-
Leaving Arriving and being told I had to park 4 blocks away, after I was told there was parking on site.
-
Extended the stay twice because of Amtrak train problems. Front desk people and staff could not have been friendlier. By the end of the week stay I felt like I had new friends. To no fault of hotel and staff the old town neighborhood has dangerous people on the streets. The hotel has security but honestly be careful walking through the neighborhood.
