HI Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel

You are right on the Pacific Ocean coast. It is spectacular. The hostel has a lot of traffic, and it is difficult to maintain any historic property that is right on the coast of an ocean.

The views at Montara Lighthouse are absolutely fantastic! We stayed in a private suite. The 2 small bedrooms and bathroom are simple, functional and clean—it’s a hostel after all. Friendly staff. If you are looking for basic, reasonable accommodation in an exquisite, historic spot, you’ve found it. Nothing

Location great!

Seems like not all the guests follow the noise-level related rules. After 10pm a group of Indian guests were loudly laughing in shared area. Maybe a an additional refresher of noise policy would be nice to discuss additionally during check-in.

Amazing views!

The location was amazing, we were so close to the ocean that we could hear the surf pounding all night long. We also spotted whales just off the shore. Shared bathrooms aren't perfect, but it wasn't a problem, especially if you consider the value for the location we stayed.

Beautiful scenery The room is extremely small, sharing the bathroom with others, and the bed is not safe.

The location is so beautiful. I love that it's secure and people who aren't guests can't just come and go. The fire alarm went off at 6:30 am for some unknown reason the final morning. All the doors slam all the time. Maybe add some weather stripping on the frames to soften the closing. I'm sure all guests would appreciate it.

The view and location was superb! Just staying at an old lighthouse was amazing. It's not your usual hotel, it's a hostel, so no special comforts like meals or nice fireplaces etc. You just go there to watch the ocean and surrounding cliffs. Shower was clean, shared, they provide linens, towels etc. Beds were also made. There is a shared kitchen which was kept clean. The rooms were a little small for the 3 person room, one would have to climb to the bunk bed. Other than that we had an amazing room with a view facing the cliffs and beach below. I don't think you can change an old lighthouse building, so you can't make rooms bigger, but maybe re-organize the beds to make more space. They were bolted to the floor so we could not move it. Maybe more hooks to hang stuff like the micro hotels we see now.

Stunning!!! What a gem along the coast. I can’t wait to return next time inthe Bay Area. This is my special place. Nothing! Loved everything.
