It wasn’t very clean

The concierge was nice and efficient. The bar tender was very professional. The reception was nice and professional The breakfast sequence was a mess every day. The staff was obviously not enough trained. The ingredients on the buffet were not protected and submitted to people snizzing and coughing. The coffee machine was breaking every 10 minutes. The staff was running every where without efficiency. The restaurant was understaffed.

The front desk staff was very accommodating, location was great, rooms clean and comfortable, and restaurant buffet was excellent.

Breakfast was good but nothing like the Buffett breakfast we had at the Marriott hotel in Sydney. Mould and hair in shower on arrival, bathrooms could definitely do with a good clean and some updating

The property enjoys a prime central location, placing guests within convenient walking distance of Melbourne’s vibrant dining scene, retail outlets, and key attractions—an undeniable advantage for both business and leisure travellers. During my recent stay at Marriott Melbourne, I observed a few areas where the guest experience could be further elevated in alignment with the brand’s five-star positioning. Firstly, access to coffee at unconventional hours was surprisingly limited. After a long-haul journey of nearly 14 hours, I found myself awake at 2–3 am due to jetlag. Unfortunately, there was no provision for coffee in the lobby at night, and room service required an additional delivery fee (A$5) on top of the coffee charge (A$6). For a luxury property of Marriott’s standing, a more seamless solution—such as complimentary lobby coffee and tea facilities available around the clock, would better meet guest expectations. Secondly, the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program was a deciding factor in my booking choice. However, since the reservation was made via Booking.com, no points were awarded. This creates a disconnect, as frequent travelers may feel compelled to bypass OTAs in favor of direct bookings, potentially impacting distribution partnerships. A model where points are honored regardless of booking channel could significantly enhance loyalty engagement and guest satisfaction. Lastly, the breakfast offering, though of good quality, seemed disproportionately priced at A$47 per person. While the spread was adequate, it did not fully justify the premium price point in comparison with similar five-star properties. Overall, while the property offers comfort and maintains Marriott’s service ethos, addressing these points would further align the guest experience with the expectations of an international five-star brand.

The location is outstanding, and reception staff was fairly friendly This was my 2nd stay at the hotel, the first one was impressive that I decided to stay there again during our second trip to Melbourne. But the experience on our 2nd stay would make me reconsider other hotel for our next trip. - I asked for city view, but they gave me a room facing the walls of next door building, - The housekeeping was much lacking compared to our first stay,

Tidy rooms and good location. Breakfast is expensive if you’re not a cooked breakfast eater. Good bar area and staff are great. Breakfast was expensive if you’re not a cooked breakfast eater.

Minute we walked through the door the staff were welcoming, especially after a late unexpected hotel swap! The room was large enough for 2 adults and 2 kids.
