Vertigo Hostel Marseille

Location, food bar First room I got was disgusting with leaking AC water on the floor and trash on the floor(probably from the other users and not the hostels fault). Had to ask to change rooms but the staff was amazing and helped out without question!

Decent room size and private bathroom. A bit difficult for everyone to keep clean but ac was nice and beds were comfy

Good location, the room was spacious. When we arrived they didn’t have any more towels for the day so we didn’t get towels. The beds looked not done which was a little weird. The hostel is divided in 2 so it can be hard to move through both “houses” with your bags.

The location was very near the city center, the room was very spacious and the bathrooms were good. No wifi! Our room was not a part of the main building so we couldn’t use the shared spaces /common areas/kitchen. Staff didn’t really tried to help much

The hostel is affordable and in a great location, just a short walk from the Vieux-Port. Be aware that the last part of the walk to the hostel is quite steep, so it can be a bit challenging with luggage. The reception staff were friendly and very responsive whenever I needed assistance. The shared kitchen was unfortunately too dirty to use. There were many insects, including inside the refrigerator, which was very unhygienic. I also found it strange that a male staff member entered the female dorm in the morning without prior notice to change the bed linens while guests were still in the room. In addition, the bedding appeared to touch the floor while being changed, which raised concerns about cleanliness.

I really liked the location. It’s in the heart of marseille, near the port There was a huge fight in my room during my stay and one person was injured and the police had to come. The other few nights, there was a lady who incessantly threw up everywhere and knocked her belongings over again and again. Every morning she woke up in excrement. The smell became unbearable in the dorm. Also the WiFi does not work. I was actually fired from my job while staying here because I couldn’t perform basic duties due to the poor WiFi. It’s really bad :(

the staff and the location....were amazing The checking should be at 14h maximum We were four person un the room there was no shower gel and poor quantity of shower gel The bathroom was dirty beacause guests dont leave it clean after use it and also the same towel to clean the floor for two days!!and no enoughr toilette paper. The AC by the night wasnt cold

The water in showers is very limited.

People steal your food and drinks even if it’s in a bag and labelled. The kitchen is never cleaned and there are insects. The kitchen smells bad. The dorms aren’t cleaned only the bathrooms.

Not sure why they have front desk staff, mostly guys check rooms (even in all female room) at almost 9pm in the night. The staff just knocked, opened and walked in so naturally. But made me uncomfortable.

Great location , a short walk from the waterfront and numerous cafes and bars. Clean rooms, polite helpful staff. Check in was easy. I felt 100% safe and had a great sleep on a comfy bed. No complaints at all. Nothing.

Although the room was nice although there was a steep staircase to reach the rooms and the bathrooms are located on a different floor to the bedrooms. So this can be difficult for some people.

There was a MASSIVE hole in the wall next to my bed

A guest arrived in the room at 1:30am, was loud and aggressive with me and the other occupant. I went downstairs to inform the staff on duty at the front desk, and that person did not do anything to help or resolve the situation or enforce the hostel rules.

Good customer service ? None
