Dover Castle Hostel

The staff at the reception was helpful and they provided luggage storage for free, and the bunk bed mattress was comfortable. I saw a lady clean the sink, shower and toilet areas which is good. The room doors lock from the inside automatically when closing which is also good for safety. The rooms themselves lack a lot, clearly not cleaned properly, big chunks of lint and hairs and dust under the beds and in the corners, and particles of dust clearly scattered on the bed linen. The room I was given had a window with a poor curtain that did not block light, and also didn't open so it was uncomfortably hot inside the room. The room was also so small that the two bunk beds sit so close to each other that one person's feet were close to the other's head. Also no privacy curtains on the bunk beds whatsoever. They also do not give you a towel or a locker, you have to pay for both separately. The kitchen was dirty with plates and leftover food everywhere.

Good location. The room smelled terrible. Like fish. The walk up the stairs atrocious. No hot water in showers. Barely any power for the water.

I used the Dover Castle a lot before Covid; this is my first visit since then. Pleased to be back for a (very!) cheap one-night stay. Good location near the tube station and some nice pubs nearby. Pleased I was allocated a bottom bunk. I was on the top floor so had to climb 62 steps to get up there. Oh well, only had to do it twice! Pity they've stopped serving breakfasts in the bar area - I used to enjoy them! But only a short walk to Tower Bridge's Wetherspoons! Not sure why you're asking about the 'quiet room'. I made no such request.

The reception was friendly angry woman in my room throwing stuff in the room, i was suppose to stay a week i stayed 2 days. uncomfortable shower situation, not cubicle just shower curtain with no place for your things

Amazing location and staff. It is very clean although a bit old. The rooms are well lit and roomy. It just feels a bit old and tge bathrooms are cramped.

Location The place was very messy. I got the impression that homeless people might be living there. I did not feel safe at all in the place. The only kind receptionist who welcomed me last night was very attentive, but the girl (Leticia) in the morning was very rude, not only to me but also to the other guests. Someone approached to ask about a price, and when the man didn’t buy it, she threw it back. Her attitude was very bad for a receptionist. The last man who was at reception before I left the hostel this afternoon didn’t even look at me, let alone respond to my “good afternoon.” I do not recommend the hostel. Even though it is centrally located, £30 for how messy and unclean it was, combined with the attitude of the reception staff, is not worth it.

It Was so dirty

Location was good The hostel was very rundown, and the facilities were bad. It felt like you were in a barrack. The room l stayed was very small to accommodate so many beds and the people staying there were all different sorts. Many of them didn't even look like tourists, which made the stay a bit creepy.

Location of the property was very good. Price was also exquisite.

The showers facilities should be more clean
