Location, friendly desk people, comp'd parking at parking next door, good size room and clarn, with dorm kitch. Was there for weekend and never had room cleaned, though was in room some for 2nd day

Unfortunately room had mold and cleaning staff was Poor. Front desk staff was always courteous and nice . Cleaning staff didn’t clean room

Adorable area with a live band (Friday night) and a wonderful “mall” street area to shop or just sit and watch.

The A/C was the noisiest I’ve heard within the US borders. Would have been acceptable in a developing country near the Equator (better noisy than no A/C) not the flagship hotel of the University of Iowa. The coffee shop was closed until 7am on a Saturday morning. I had to walk a few blocks to get some coffee before starting my day. There was no bathroom in the lobby, and the hotel is not connected to the parking ramp (had to walk outside). Will not return and does not recommend it.

Crazy decor, but great location!

I really wanted to like this hotel. The lobby and all of the common areas are so cute. Since it’s in a college town, everything is decked out in black and gold. The lobby, in particular, is adorable and decorated to look like an old-school library. It was just perfect. The beds were comfy although a little soft but that's a matter of preference. The bathrooms were clean and showers had good water pressure. Unfortunately, once I got upstairs, my excitement faded. The room decor was just as charming, but the carpets and AC/ventilation system were a major issue. Our AC was so loud when it ran that it was difficult to sleep. The smell in the room was also very musty and got noticeably worse whenever the AC was running. The room itself felt damp and humid. The hotel really needs to replace the carpeting with a different type of flooring and give the rooms a major overall refresh. I understand that it was very warm and humid outside, but the AC simply couldn’t keep up. We had just moved our kiddo into their dorm and were exhausted, so we should have asked for a different room right away when we noticed even a hint of the musty smell. We only stayed one night, but we did mention all of these issues to the front desk staff the next morning. We were in Room 709, and at that point, there really wasn’t anything that could be done. I initially thought maybe the issues were specific to our room, but then we noticed another empty room propped open on our floor. The AC in that room was running much more quietly, although the musty smell was still there. Maybe this hotel would be more comfortable in the winter, but unfortunately, our experience during the summer was disappointing. It’s such a cute property with so much potential, and I really wanted to love it.

Great stay. Close to everything in Iowa City.

This is our second stay at the hotel. The first one was last month and it was excellent. Second time we stayed at the same floor but the room wasn’t well maintained as the other one and didn’t have the complementary water, the body wash was empty and we found left over food from another guest and his drinks inside the mini fridge. During our last day our door didn’t open but someone came and changed the door lock battery really quick for us. When we open the door we saw that the room wasn’t clean so we had to ask for clean towels at least.

Comfortable and clean. Easy walking to everything downtown. Fun, clever design and decor. Validated parking in public garage next to hotel!

Super cute property. Convenient location and well maintained.
-
Room clean, tub just didn't drain well and very small area in bathroom due to pedestal sink.

I stayed here a while ago and thought the bathroom in the room smelled disgusting. The shower curtains do not have a liner and it smelled horrible. I thought this was a one off, but I stayed here again and the bathroom again had an overwhelming disgusting pee smell on the shower curtain.
