Stefan, the owner, along with employees Ruby and Judy who directly take care of everyone, are the most wonderful people ensuring a wonderful experience in Penang! Our room was spacious, the facilities met the highest standards, breakfast was more than enough food, and having Christoph's Bistro/Brasserie next door was a most pleasant surprise at which we had 3 incredible dinners. Ruby and Judy couldn't have been nicer helping to assist in organizing our activities and experiences around Penang, organizing a taxi for our 5am departure the night before, and always being available for questions and support. In addition, the location is perfect, close to all entertainment in Georgetown but on a quiet street. Nothing.

The breakfast was very good; A/C strong; location is IDEAL to explore George Town; the bathroom was unique (in a good way); staff extremely friendly and helpful. It's a landmark as we often saw tourists pausing while they passed to take photos. Building has so much character and history. N/A

Like many hotels in George Town is was a repurposed building, the charm of these houses really added to the experience. The room was great and the outdoor bathroom was a lovely touch. The bed was comfy the room clean and location was great! nothing really.

Beautifully renovated and decorated old building with lots of charm.We had the two downstairs units. Comfortable clean accommodation with a quirky layout.Centrally located a couple of blocks from Love Lane but very quiet.Welcoming helpful staff with lots of advice on things to do. Nothing!

The property was charming and pretty, close to the heart of town but peaceful. The breakfast which was included at Christoph’s attached was a nice start to my day. Rubilyn and Judi are the managers who made my stay so welcoming. They are the best hosts, so much so that we will be friends forever. They were truly the best part of my experience here. I hope to return! Nothing

Convenient location, lots of character, wonderful hosts. Second bedroom not as comfortable, thin blanket was close to a loud humming machine outside bathroom. Breakfast could have more local variety.

I had an amazing stay at Coffee Atelier in George Town’s UNESCO heart. This boutique gem, set in beautifully restored 20th-century shophouses, blends old-world charm with modern comfort. My suite was spacious, filled with antique charm, and had all the essentials, Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and a cozy vibe. The location is perfect, just steps from Chulia Street, Blue Mansion, and Armenian Street, making it so easy to explore Penang’s vibrant street art and food scene, yet it’s surprisingly peaceful. The staff who took care of us were incredibly warm and helpful, sharing great local tips. Highly recommend for a memorable Penang stay! I would add a chair in the main room.

It is a very charming hotel with history and antique furniture. The host, Ruby, was very welcoming and always keen to help. The hotel is conveniently located and easy to get to main sites. Breakfast was tasty and plenty. You can hear footsteps from the upstairs, but guests should understand that it's an old building.

We had a great time at Coffee Atelier. Ruby is super friendly and always happy to share tips and help with anything — it really made us feel welcome! The place itself is beautiful, spacious, and in a great location. We really enjoyed our stay overall. Breakfast is served at the restaurant just downstairs. It’s a calm and quiet setting, which we liked, but after three nights it started to feel a bit repetitive and limited in variety. That said, I do appreciate that it’s not a buffet — much less food waste — though it would be great to have a few more options to choose from.

We had a wonderful stay at Coffee Atelier : if you like small historical hotels with a quaint vibe - look no further. It's very calm (despite being close to the main streets), we didn't hear any noise and we stayed 4 nights (at the end of Ramadan). Moreover the staff is very friendly and helpful (they packed us a small breakfast because we were leaving early) : our special thanks to Ruby!

Great location two blocks from Chulia and Love Lane and so special to stay in a historic building, with multiple rooms and a private courtyard. Wonderful staff couldn't be more welcoming or attentive (thanks Ruby & co). Lots of niceties like soft sheets and towels and great AC. Penang is hot and sticky, and I loved coming back to cool off. The toilet and shower are out through the courtyard, with a few steps involved. Someone with mobility issues might find this unconventional setup challenging at night.
