Was pleasantly surprised to find the hostel so uniquely designed. Didn't look like a hostel from outside. I felt rather luxurious. Even the upper berths were so nice with comfortable stairs unlike in most other hostels. The beds were also comfortable. The dorms come with big bathrooms inside so we can get complete privacy. Towels are provided free. Got free laundry for staying 3 nights. Access to drinking water 24 hours in the common room. Overall, everything was great. Highly recommended. The common room also serves as a smoking room. So, didn't like sitting there to relax, especially after someone has been smoking. There were a few guests who were not so clean with their bathroom habits, especially, the way they disposed of the sanitary pads. They were all over the bins open which was disgusting and totally disrespectful. Not the fault of the host, of course. But mentioning it so future female guests would be more respectful of the other guests.

Central location to old city of Penang. Plenty of eating options, including a fresh fruit +veg market. Plenty of nightlife options. Staff were friendly, efficient, professional and knowledgeable. My Room 103, was adjacent Reception desk. Could hear other guests in the lobby through my door. Perhaps staff need to be more vigilant in reducing noise in this area, or better insulated door. Wifi in my room was unreliable.

Even it was a bit small, the outside swimming pool was a huge plus for a typical hostel stay. nothing

Good For those who don't want to be the first to wake up, it's horrible. Every time someone leaves and checks out, the cleaning lady comes into the room, turns on the light, leaves the door open, and the cold air runs out. And this happens all morning, countless times. It's not like every place where they clean everything in one go. It's impossible to sleep in the morning.

The location was excellent in the heart of George Town and the whole place was SO clean and comfy!!!! I really loved it! Nothing

The property was very neat and clean and was very peaceful. The swimming pool was also very nice. The property showcased the heritage of the place and it really was nice from the entrance to the room in case of its ambience and vibes. There was no separate handwash in my room of the hostel. Moreover, they can provide bodywash and hairwash in their bathroom with separate handwash at the basin otherwise people use the bodywash as handwash which is not cool as far as hygiene is concerned. Other than that, everything else was good. Thanks

I stayed for 3 nites. First 2 notes was in a single room. The bed is comfortable and clean but noisy as everyone has to pass the room. I was staying in the first room near the reception. The third nite I was upgraded to double bed as single was full. .The bed was uncomfortable maybe it was thoroughly used by couples. Perhaps it's time for a change. What was worse I found a cockroach crawling around and told the cleaner who catches it. I cannot imagine I slept with a cockroach all nite. Il quickly checked out as I was supposed to stay another nite. However, the receptionists are all so sweet and friendly.. The upkeep of the hotel is terrible. The location is very good. The food, shopping and nite life are all within walking distance. The cleanliness is undesirable. Time to pay higher for better cleaners.

Early check in ok Friendly staff Good location Beautiful lobby Very old Not particularly clean (cobwebs, strong sewage smell in the toilet). Low water pressure in the bathroom and only lukewarm water.

This charming hotel in central Georgetown has a real sense of place. The spacious wooden interiors are in keeping with the local vibe and we enjoyed coming back here after busy days exploring. Rooms were fine, comfy enough, but it is the central location and the feel of the hotel and kind staff that means I would return. The pool was fine for a quick dip but is next to car park so not a place for sunbathing on loungers

There was a particular sewage type odour in the bathroom which we noticed in other accommodations in Penang as well. That was sadly unpleasant.

This place is BEAUTIFUL. The room was nice and functional but the actual property itself is STUNNING. Staff were friendly and had affordable laundry available. Bathroom was a little dirty. (nothing crazy, but could use a deep clean)

It is an old hotel but well appointed and maintained. I very much enjoyed it.

super clean and the staff who is Indonesian is very helpful and clean room thoroughly. superb location

COLD AC to battle the Penang heat. The location is a highlight of this charming hotel and hostel. Additionally, the decor is lovely, featuring an open air skylight in the middle of the lobby, which is filled with cute art, sculptures and plants. Beneath the skylight is a small pond like area, but there weren't any fishes in there at the time. The front entrance is built out to host many guests, yet it was often somewhat empty and I don't know if they have a restaurant exactly. But the coy pond is generally filled with fog from a machine and makes for a glorious entrance to the building. The pool is absolutely fantastic and provided for a great cool down on the many very hot days in Penang. And the management team and staff are extraordinarily kind and even provide free laundry services for stays of 3 days or more! The hotel is also located in the heart of Georgetown which made for very good accessibility to dining, rentals, tours and the street art. The beds were not very comfortable, and I got stuck with many folks that snore really loudly, so my sleep was not the best. I didn't like that the hair dryers were right outside of my room, and while the staff did clean regularly, they would do it very early in the morning and generally wake me up after I had finally fallen asleep at a late hour. Also, my bed was fine, but a guest in my room had bed bugs and got bit several times, ultimately needing to find new accommodations.

The location, the price and clean facilities. High humidity in the capsule area. The AC did not help, but made thing worse. When you lie in bed you actually feel the wetness and humidity on your skin which is soooo uncomfortable. Plus the capsule area smelled socks, shoes etc despite the fact that shoes must be left outside the room

The hotel was horrible old dirty mattress I do not recommend this hotel Disgusting Nothing the hotel is old and desperately needs Renovations Staff was cold and I felt harassed on my departure date my sheets on my bed were old and disgusting the sheets needed to be in the trash the dorm room was small and dirty the top of the wall had mold painted over it please do not go to this hotel it's horrible as a black woman I felt extremely uncomfortable at this hotel when I arrived I ask the lady at the front desk to see a room she refused to show me a room I was exhausted so I paid for the room when she showed me the room I almost PASSED OUT IT WAS HORRIBLE less than 30 minutes I walked up to the lobby to CHECK OUT
