Ropewalk Piazza Hotel Managed By The Ascott Limited

The location is really good and staff was extremely courteous and hospitable. Adam and Selva attended to all my requests promptly. The location is really the highlight as you feel the charm of Victorian age in a well preserved colonial town. It is a walking distance from all the touristic spots such as murals and museums. We found the place unclean with crumbs on the carpets and a bad odor in the living area. We had to request cleaning before we could really unpack and unwind. The main bedroom receives a lot of road noise but the staff was kind enough to provide ear plugs to us to help alleviate the discomfort to some extent. While the service was extremely welcoming, we found our room in a pretty beat up shape which was Ofcourse not in control of the hosts but hopefully some much needed repairs will restore its charm.

The location close to all important landmarks and a big shopping mall. The conditions of the room, was old and I had to insist on changing the shower head as it's sprayed water everywhere. The floors creaked when u walked on it as if your in a hunted house. And to top it off the hotel is a room only, no reception after 11pm or before 10 am, breakfast you have to go out to get it. I THINK the place should be advertised as an apartment as it's not a hotel AT ALL. Also there is a mosque nearby get ready to wake up at 6am with the call to prayer.

Excellent location in Georgetown with nearby restaurants and food stalls. But be aware that it is located close to a mosque and we hear the calls to prayer multiple times per day. If I recall correctly, there was one around 5:30 am. Not a fault with the facility but thought one should be aware, as I didn’t recall reading about this in the reviews when I researched the accommodations. Our daughter is a light sleeper so the announcements did wake her up. Nil with the facilities.

The location is very good, walking proximity to many restaurants, malls and the old town. The room is spacious. The actual room condition is older than what it appears to be on the reservation page. The aircon broke down on one night and the staff quickly took care of it. The water basin was clogged on the first night of arrival.

Location, layout of apartment. Suggestions for improvement: provide full length mirror and better soundproofing, especially for the room facing the street.

There were 3 of us and we liked that this location had 2 rooms. A/C and showers worked well. So ideal location for groups and families. I also liked that they let us check in early ( 2pm) when a room became available. Normal check in time is 3 pm. They also allowed us to store our luggage while we waited for our room and when we checked out. Location is great near al the sites including Kimberly food street area and Prangin Mall but away from the noise of the bar scene so you are sure to get a good night's sleep. Reception is only staffed from 9 am to 12 midnight but we were always able to get assistance any time we need help if you call the hotel WhatsApp number because they have staff in other properties nearby who are present 24 hours. One night they sent us a technician to fix the TV, Daniel also help us reset our digital code to the room one night, and another night they sent us fresh towels when we requested for it. Note you need to call reception if you want to have your room cleaned. We want to thank Kalil of housekeeping , not sure of spelling of staff's name but want to thank him when he welcomed us while we waited for early check in. We also want to thank Ifran, Daniel and Seyviar who provided us great customer service during our stay. Note this is a heritage building that has been converted into hoitel and it is the only one with a two room layout among the properties managed by Ascott in the city. There is only one bathroom for the unit so this may be an issue if you have a big group. There are no lifts. The unit is two levels, and the accommodations are all on the 2nd level which you can only reach through a very relatively short staircase. So just be aware of this in case you have large suitcases. TV is older Sharp model that is not a Smart TV. TV needs to be replaced.

Great hotel ! Needs updating and breakfast options. I was surprised to find our hotel was on the second floor . The walls and ceilings had cracks and the couch I slept on desperately needed replaced.BUT the front desk staff was AMAZING ! The location was great and the spacious apartment was wonderful for our family

I love the fact that it is a converted town house. The private entrance with key code entry is very convenient and i love the size and layout. Not the fault of the property but local government decided to do road works on the street outside for 3 days from 1am to 5am each day. Also, the TVs are pretty old and can only watch local TV - cannot connect with SMART and watch own things.

Centralised strategic location in Penang . Just opposite prangin mall and Konrad Penang . A stone throw away from the famous Kimberly street where you can taste the Michelin food and famous cendol, the hotel staff at the reception are lovely . The 2 bedroom unit I stay at is clean and lots of space for a family of 4 . Daily cleaning is done properly to ensure the comfort of the guests. Only issue is the room that I stayed at (room 136) the master bed room TV is not working . Also to take note that the bar below the hotel is no longer in operation so there is no noise issue at night but during the day time some traffic noise from the outside can be heard . The steep stairs up the unit . While it may be fun for bigger kids and adults , senior folks might find it hard walking up especially with larger luggage. Tv has limited channels. Sofa has minor stains.

Close to everything (restaurants, massage places, George Town street art…). Big rooms with comfortable beds. I would repeat without hesitation. In the main bedroom you can hear what’s happening outside. It was not a big deal because it wasn’t very noisy, but that’s the only thing I would say.

Wouldn't say some parts of the living room space were squeaky clean, nonetheless bedrooms were cleaned very well.
