I could hardly believe a place like this exists. Like taking the Grand Tour and entering into the books of E.M. Forster, or Henry James. An 18th C. Villa, beyond belief. An excellent restaurant, Viva Lo Re, across the road. Delicious, elegant breakfast provided by Theresa (who is delightful and helpful) in your suite, or in the dining room. Our room had a sitting room with a carved marble fireplace. We walked to Herculaneum. Pompeii is very accessible.

Made you feel like you were in a dream Location great restaurant across the street walk everywhere from the hotel

We had a late checkin of 10pm. Was in communication with owner that our train from Milan was 90 minutes late… 90 minutes turned into 4 hrs and the owner was very gracious as we arrived by Taxi at 1:30am. Breakfast in our room was great and the hostess met our every need and want! 10 minutes walk to Herculaneum. Many good restaurants around and we took the train back to Napoli Centrale! Only one lamp in the bedroom (a minor inconvenience)

The location is perfect and the staff were wonderful. Breakfast was excellent. The bathroom fittings and shower are a little dated

There were some issues with the hot water but the hosts got that sorted out. We also struggled a bit with climate control as the main room stayed pretty toasty but the upstairs room was a bit cold in the mornings. That said, it might have been us just not understanding how to work the heating unit.

This is an amazing palazzo-style property, with huge rooms and very ornate furniture. It felt very special walking in, and certainly something out-the-ordinary, which was befitting my wife's birthday. In-room breakfast was lovely and arrived with great energy from Teresa. It felt very impersonal. Communication in the weeks/months beforehand was hard, and there were no instructions of how to find the front door on arrival. The friendly lady on reception didn't really speak English, so it generally felt quite impersonal. Also, the hot water ran out so we couldn't use the bath, and there was no number to contact to get this fixed.

The villa is a 5 minute walk to the archaeological site. There is a very good restaurant across the street (same owner) but it opened late (8 pm). The room was huge! The breakfast was large and varied. Thank you, Teresa! Served in your room. The staff was very nice. The town and building are both showing their age. The water pressure was ok. The towels were not soft. You must lug your luggage up a flight of stairs. No elevator. A long walk uphill back to the train station. We took a cab. The staff speak little English but use a translator device (pretty nifty!)

Villa Durante offered an excellent experience in a well-situated location. The breakfast, served in the room, was both delicious and prepared in-house. The cappuccino provided was of exceptional quality, among the best experienced during our visit to Italy. Numerous restaurants and bars are accessible by foot, and the Herculaneum ruins are conveniently located just one block away and merit a visit. On-site parking was made available for our vehicle, ensuring safety and convenience. Overall, Villa Durante is highly recommended.

Unique location in old villa. Amazing details of doors/accents. Staff very accommodating. Allowed us to leave bags and explore the ruins in the morning. Breakfast in the morning was delicious! Was a little hard figuring out how to get into villa (entrance is upstairs on first floor - staircase is to the Left after entering courtyard from 310). Lots of stairs, not easily accessible if anyone with movement issues - was not a problem for us.

Francesca was extremely helpful throughout our stay and especially when we had travel disruptions due to some local celebrations! Big beautiful tub, took a while to fill it.

Wonderful breakfast laid out in room. Location, just 15min walk from train station and 5 mins from Herculaneum. Stunning large clean room Friendly, helpful staff Nothing

This is a unique place in walking distance to the excavations. Beautifully restored villa, huge living space and the welcoming hospitality of both Francesca and Theresa. We stayed an additional night.

Beautiful old villa; loved the quirky doors. Ideal location, a short walk to the Herculaneum ruins and easy train or taxi ride to Pompeii or to Napoli. Host Francesca was very helpful with local restaurant recommendations; we particularly enjoyed the excellent restaurant Vive Lo Re across the street. She also recommended for us an outstanding private guide, Marily, who guided us through Pompeii one day and Herculaneum the next. She had an in-depth understanding of the history of the ancient towns and patiently answered our numerous questions; we particularly liked how she was able to point out interesting details we might have missed otherwise. There was some traffic noise at night, to be expected of course, but we quickly got used to it. You should be aware that one of the rooms has the bed in a loft up a set of stairs.

Amazing villa, huge apartment with large living room, bathroom, dressing room, separate bedroom with jacuzzi. Private parking in the yard. Individual breakfast and helpful staff. You can add glass goblets and a corkscrew to the room)
