Hillside Dunbar

Great place to stay in Dunbar. Close to train station so could commute to Edinburgh. Room clean and spacious, comfortable bed. Nice bar downstairs. Breakfast is very basic, DIY, no staff on site in the morning.

Great location, close to the train station. Quiet. We were on the bottom level but could still see the ocean. Shower was amazing, bed was comfortable We understood about the 4 pm check in time and were delighted to be let in earlier. A little fridge in the room would have been nice

Conveniently located a 5 min walk from the Train Station. The room was comfortable, shower big and everything spotless. While not advertised, a basic complementary breakfast of cereal with bread and jams, tea and coffee is provided. My double room faced the road which was generally very busy so noisy - if you have the option try get a sea view room to cut down on that. Staff while friendly, were sparse. It would have been helpful to have someone more available on site for questions when I arrived

The location was perfect - close walk to beach, pubs, shops and restaurants, etc. It was a great central spot to explore that part of Scotland . The gal that checked us in and ran the bar was super friendly. No complaints

Location Noisy road

The view from the window looked out over the sea. There was no breakfast available, even though it said breakfast was available. Limited check in hours. We had to drive extra to check in before we went to dinner so that the check in wasn't closed which added an hour to our drive to go back and forth to the hotel then dinner. They charged an extra $45 to add a person to my son's room because my other son joined us last minute on the trip. There was no reason to add an extra charge since there was no additional impact on the room. Just a gratuitous up-charge. So unnecessary and really left a bad taste. Also, the bed was so small and uncomfortable. NOT a good bed for two people and very hard.

Shower head needs a deep clean and there were a few marks on the walls/ceiling that wipe off. The cold tap produces hot water for a couple of minutes before it goes cooler.

For guests arriving in by train, the hotel's location couldn't be more convenient. Large, clean and comfortable room. The white walls of the bedroom were completely bare so it felt a little bit like a private room in a hospital. Formerly known as "Hillside Bed & Breakfast", it's now known as "Hillside Hotel", and charges a £12 supplement for breakfast, which on top of the £72 for the room seemed quite expensive for a one-night stay (so I didn't bother with the breakfast!)

Spotlessly clean and functional with modern furnishings, generous sized bathroom, light and airy bedroom. Friendly staff interaction at check in and breakfast. Limited parking roadside due to double yellow lines outside the property at junction however on checking in it was clear that the medical centre car park opposite can be utilised overnight resulting in no issue overall.

Room was clean and comfortable, breathtaking views of the sea. Hotel is very close to the train station and taxi service is very good. There’s no early access to the hotel, we arrived 30 minutes before check in time and had to wait outside. Good thing it wasn’t raining.
