This was probably one of the worst hotels I stayed In. We only slept , showered, and left. But that’s beside the point. Smelled like mildew in the lobby , hallways, and room. They did add some dampener in the room to mitigate smell. Helped on the last day. They told us there was no other rooms available. Fitness room was closed our whole stay. Everytime we went to our room, I had to go get key card reset. EVERY TIME. Would not recommend to anyone to stay here. Gateway in corpus is probably better!

Truly a one-star hotel. This will be the case for many months at least; the hotel is falling apart. They’ve already started a renovation, but it's going slowly, and right now (August 2026), if you stay here, you'll have a bad overall experience.

The property was under renovation. The room was missing a notification fire alarm device and had exposed wiring by missing junction box covers. There was plywood and obstructions in fire escape stairwells. The sauna was under construction and no signs or safety materials were provided to ensure no one would fall into the pit. The side egress doors security locks did not work and were broken allowing anybody to enter the hotel. Fire escape doors were missing door knobs. Overall was not worth the price and should be avoided at least till the renovation is over with.

The problems started the moment we walked in. The entire hotel smelled like sewage, and the odor was overwhelming. We checked into our room hoping it would be better, but it was even worse. The room was filthy. There was a dead cockroach under the table, mold growing on the blinds and above the AC unit, and the bathtub looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months—it was covered in black grime. The floors were dirty and full of sand. The only positive thing I can say is that the bed sheets appeared to be freshly cleaned. The condition of the building was alarming. They claimed they were remodeling the second floor, but you could literally see through the wall around the AC unit into the parking lot. Even more concerning, the smoke detector that was supposed to be in our room was completely missing, leaving exposed electrical wires hanging from the ceiling where it should have been. This is a serious safety hazard. The doors didn't feel secure, and the overall condition of the property made us feel unsafe. The pool was also out of service, so one of the advertised amenities wasn't even available. What made the experience even more frustrating was the staff's response. They were clearly aware of all these issues but said there was nothing they could do. When we asked about a refund, we were told we would have to contact the owner ourselves. To top it off, breakfast was a disaster. The

Booked two rooms. One room carpet was soaking wet. The other room had stains all over the sheets. Transferred to a third room and there was mold on the ceiling and again stains in the sheets. Building was clearly going through heavy maintenance. Ceiling tiles were missing on multiple floors and leak damage everywhere. Fish tank was either emptied or leaked in the check-in area and made it smell like a boat dock. Cleaning staff were walking around in night gowns and no shoes. Ended up canceling the reservation as a result. Had to rebook locally last minute. Front desk staff were great and accommodating.

This place should not be booking rooms if it's still under renovation. The pool and Fitness center still hadn't been inspected by inspectors, so they weren't available for use, my daughters were very dissappointed, rooms still needed work to be completed, they didn't notify me that I needed to request housekeeping to clean room and bring clean towels, they ran out of breakfast before 7:30am. The side doors did not lock, anyone could just walk in, I could go on and on.

We were really disappointed with our stay at La Quinta on Padre Island. To start, the hotel had a distinct stale smell throughout the building. The hallways leading up to our room had noticeably dirty carpets, and once we got inside, we were shocked to find broken nails on the floor—a huge safety hazard, especially when walking around barefoot. The facility issues continued beyond the rooms: Leaking Vents: Several AC vents in the lobby were actively leaking. Unannounced Closures: Both the gym and pool were completely out of service. None of these closures were disclosed on their website or on Hotels.com prior to booking. While we understand maintenance happens, failing to inform guests beforehand while charging full rate—and neglecting basic room safety and cleanliness—is unacceptable. We definitely wouldn't recommend staying here until management addresses their maintenance and housekeeping standards

Worst experience, dirty, no swimming pool, late breakfast, low quality food, very dirty rooms, I paid way too much for this kind of accommodation.

The hotel was dirty, smelled like mold, the beds looked like someone had been laying in them. All amenities were out of order. Breakfast was awful, ran out of waffle mix and coffee and the juice machine was broken. Way over priced I wish I would have gotten a refund and went elsewhere.
-
Overall, all we needed was to feel safe, shower and sleep on clean bed and repeat with a working AC and we got those things. We would stay here again.

Staff was polite and helpful. Bed was comfy (questionable on depth of cleanliness) AC was fabulous after a day in the sun.
