Inside Barcelona Apartments Mercat

The apartment is located on a quiet road behind the Museum of History of Barcelona, between the Parc de Ciutadella and the quaint Born neighborhood. Our Uber driver did not know how to enter the street, so he dropped us off a couple of blocks away, near the train station (Estacio de Franca). We used the phone app to open the outside door and the key code provided to unlock (and lock) the apartment. The apartment is large by European standards, with a high ceiling, and is very well equipped. There is no room service, but when we asked for a change of sheets we got them the next morning. Plenty of restaurants nearby (just on the other side of the museum), there are also a couple of small grocery stores, and it is a short walk to the Picasso or the MOCA museums. A metro station is about 5 mins walk. Overall it was a very comfortable 5 night stay for two people. It is nearly impossible to take a shower without getting the floor wet. Another slight annoyance was the washing machine, which is claimed to double-duty as a dryer. We ran the dryer function almost all night and our clothes were still wet in the morning. Lastly, should you need to store luggage, note that the apartment office is not "in the same building" as stated on the app, but actually inside the Born neighborhood, a 7 mins walk.

Great location, clean, very nice place and good view. It could have used more towels and the sofa bed could use an upgrade.

Clean, tidy and comfortable. Nothing, everything was great.

The location was good, very central to where we wanted to go. The instructions and security to get in were good. We were confused about the type of balcony we would have. The website had many pictures relating to all the apartments and it was not obvious that we had booked a different one. Same with the beds and the floor plans- we were confused about the number of beds available.

A fantastic apartment in a cool area of Barcelona. It's surrounded by restaurants/bars and a short walk to the Gothic Quarter. The hosts were great to deal with and could store our luggage due to an early arrival.

El Born is a fantastic neighborhood in Barcelona. The apartment is in a great location. We basically walked everywhere. Plenty of restaurants and tons of history close by. Also lots of supermarkets and specialty markets in the area if you’re planning on stocking the kitchen for your stay. The apartment has a fabulous terrace. Nice spot to chill with some fatty meats and cheese and a bottle of wine. The furniture is a bit tired but we didn’t spend all that much time indoors.

Excellent location, excellent customer service

Very attractive apartment in a mostly quiet neighborhood. Within short walking distance to good restaurants. The door lock, curiously, took many times to open. If it weren’t for me accidentally trying an incorrect door and speaking with a neighbor did we learn the ‘trick’ to opening the door! Pretty minor, all things considered.

Clean and quiet.

Mariana was very kind and helpful . She made our stay very comfortable. We love the neighborhood! Something to keep in mind : we arrived very early and had to wait until 10am for the office to open so it was a bit inconvenient lugging our large suitcases around. We did not know the office was located about 3 blocks away. A staff member happened to stop by and showed us the way. We sat and waited outside until the office opened. Everyone there is so nice.

Location walkable to sights The master bedroom AC had moldy smell causing difficulty to sleep. The bathroom configuration to get out of the shower from a high tub to a small space next to the toilet was different.

Door codes made it super easy. Location was quiet, safe, very well located near the gothic quarter, Air Conditioning works VERY well. Great Amenities. Downstairs bedding was a little musty and had a slight smell (like a old sock) Wifi connection was not consistent, very slow and could use some better signal.

The stairs are very narrow in the apartment.

Nice apartment. Lots of room. Loved the balcony. Easy to access and checkin was smooth.

If you want one of the apartments with the terrace, you must specify and talk to someone to make sure you’re booking it. I thought we were going to have a terrace and we didn’t. They said there’s only two apartments with terraces and you have to book them specifically. I thought all of them had a terrace.

Location was fantastic, right in the heart of a wonderful neighborhood. Walkable to almost everything we wanted to see. Great food and sights all around. Transit to other sights very easy to walk to. The bathroom is nice but can be difficult to use. Glass divider on shower makes it hard to get in and out and almost impossible to turn water on without getting wet. Very few places to hang towels to dry. Toilet paper holder is oddly placed. Reaching around behind while sitting, then tearing off a piece requires a contortionist skill that is tough on the back. I could not do it if I were left handed. Maintenance needs to be done on fixtures mounted to walls, they are detaching.
