Great view, great location, very kind staff. Our Large View Room was very spacious (especially for Amsterdam Canal Hotel). The bed was very comfortable, perfect for after walking so many miles around the city. There was a cute garden in the back of the hotel too.

So much to like. The staff were incredible. The decor was very cool. Bed was so comfortable and the shower was great. Checkout was a little disorganised. I went to reception to pay my bill before I left, paid and was standing outside waiting for my airport taxi when the staff asked me to come back in and pay for things that had not been considered by the first staff member. It was a little annoying and made me feel awkward.

We loved most everything… staff in particular The problem for us was not having a separate shower… because of our age.

Canal House was truly exceptional in every way. The building is absolutely stunning — elegant, full of character and beautifully maintained. The entire hotel has a very special atmosphere, and the cleanliness and attention to detail are at an extremely high level. The beds deserve a special mention — exceptionally comfortable, with beautiful, high-quality bed linen that made sleeping an absolute pleasure. The staff were outstanding: warm, attentive, genuinely caring and always ready to help. Their hospitality made the whole experience even more memorable. A beautiful property, wonderful people and an outstanding experience from beginning to end. I would return without hesitation.

Love the more Gothic style of this hotel. The beds were exceedingly comfy to the point we slept a whole day away. The Garden out back is a nice convient spot to have lunch you bring back with you and get some fresh air, or have a drink from the bar. The air conditioning was a life saver and worked really well, almost too well at times. The staff was wonderful and helped with bags up all the stairs and down even in the early hours of the morning. From our room we had a nice view of the garden out back and the neighboring rooftops. The dining area was also clean, pretty amd well laid out. The shower/bath situation was in full view of the main room and bed. No door or partial wall at all. Might not be a problem for everyone but traveling with a friend we had to take turns leaving the room to allow the other to shower. The stairs going to the upper floors have a sharp turn and the railing is a wee bit loose on the corner. These were manageable for us but might not be for everyone.

My stay at Canal House was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped inside, I was impressed by the beautiful atmosphere, attention to detail, and outstanding level of service. Every member of staff I encountered was warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely made me feel valued throughout my stay. My room was simply perfect, spotlessly clean, beautifully designed, peaceful, and incredibly comfortable. After an amazing performance at a festival weekend, it was exactly the relaxing retreat I needed. Everything exceeded my expectations, and the overall experience was truly overwhelming in the best possible way. There was just one small moment on arrival. As I came directly from the festival, I was dressed casually, and the porter asked if I had come to the right place. I imagine it was simply a misunderstanding based on my appearance rather than anything intentional. Once inside, however, the welcome and service were absolutely first class, and that brief moment was quickly forgotten. I would happily recommend Canal House to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Amsterdam. Thank you to the entire team for making my visit so special, I look forward to returning. The only aspect of my stay that I didn't particularly like was a small incident on my first evening. After checking in earlier that day, I went out to explore the city. When I returned later that evening, I entered the hotel and instinctively headed straight upstairs towards my room. Suddenly, I heard a raised voice from behind me asking where I was going. I turned around to find a receptionist quickly approaching me. I calmly explained that I was returning to my room and provided my room number. I was initially quite surprised by the interaction, but I also understand why it happened. I was simply in my own world after a long day and didn't think to acknowledge reception as I came back in. I appreciate that the staff have a responsibility to ensure the safety and security of both guests and the hotel. Although the approach felt a little abrupt in the moment, it was a minor incident that did not detract from what was otherwise an outstanding stay with exceptional service throughout.
