Perfect Vermont feel and Barbara was so nice and made check in easy.

Only flaw, they should put a fence up in front of garbage and dumpsters. They are an eye sore.

Great location and amenities waterfront. Seems rooms are dog-friendly so may have needed a bit more cleaning!!

Good in town location. Having multiple, real wood ring fire pits in the back (river frontage!) with lighter, newspaper, kindling and good dry wood, all at no extra charge was truly unique and excellent. Otherwise, an old style motel which is in very good shape, but not worth the high price. I was expecting more luxury, especially in the rooms. Wi-Fi was really poor quality in the room, constantly dropping out. Price was at a premium.

We stayed in the River House and had two different rooms as we stayed one night each at the beginning and end of a longer trip to Canada. Both rooms were very clean. One room had a better view of the river than the other. There is construction occurring at the property and we weren’t made aware of it ahead of time so the sawing and drilling made sitting by the river and relaxing a little difficult. The whole property is getting a face lift. The outdoor space was lovely with chairs and fire pits. The location is great. Grocery store across the street and walkable to breakfast and shops. Would recommend but make sure you check about construction and confirm a good view of the river if that is important to you.

The Shire was a special treat for us. It was close to the shops in town, yet had a gorgeous and unexpected location on the river in the back. It was beautifully landscaped and was incredibly clean. The staff was kind and courteous and very accommodating. Parts of the hotel were under renovation, and I can't wait to go back to see how it turns out. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. A coffee maker in the room would have been nice, but having the central coffee and microwave on each floor worked fine.

The staff was helpful. The room was clean. There was some 1st floor construction that it would have been nice to know about prior to check in. It didn’t impact our stay but made things a bit dusty. Very conveniently located to downtown area.

Adorable, clean place in a great location.

Very spacious, clean and comfortable room with an amazing view of the river and hills behind the property. The common outdoor spaces had several fire pits going at night with adirondack chairs right next to the river as an added bonus.

Nice place to stay was major construction going on which didn't bother us too much but might have been nice to be aware beforehand. We had a lovely room on the second floor.

The room was large. with lots of sunlight and adjacent to the river and very near the center of Woodstock Everything was fine

The views out our window of the river were beautiful. We got a pizza and sat in the chairs by the river and enjoyed the sunset. The bed was very comfortable, the staff friendly and linens were good quality. The door handle would not lock and is in need of repair. No dining facilities on site but several good options within 15 min drive.

Giid hotel with several fire pits to sit by the river

Arrived late, unfortunately… Office was closed but staff communicated that the room was open and key inside. Pro: Friendly and accommodating staff, Beds were insanely comfortable, room was spotless… Con: A/C was loud, and Wifi nonexistent, as was anyone of cell service. No restaurant on premises as of Aug 2026. Overall a great stay, only wished it was for longer than a night. Aircon loud, no wifi service, no cell network… no restaurant.

Beautiful stay along the water. Had fire pits going in the back. The room was nicely furnished and the kids loved the bunk beds. Would stay here again. In middle of renovation so it will be neat to see once done. It didnt have a breakfast offering. Not a huge deal but our family tends to like the warm breakfast at hotel before heading out on road. If we were staying for a longer period we would have loved to hit up the shops and food places along the way.

The room was large. You hear all the noise from other rooms. Very limited equipment (no hairdryer for example, no hot water in the room).

It would be great to have a coffee maker in the room
