There were many highlights to our one-night stay at Hotel Garni Alpes. The location of the hotel is great, near the gondola station and the views from the property are spectacular. The sauna area is fantastic (although longer hours would have been appreciated). The pool was closed while we were there but looks beautiful. The breakfast was one of the best we had during our travels. But the MOST memorable aspect was Sabina. She is the daughter of the owners and could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I really wanted to give this family-owned hotel a 10 rating and would happily have done so as it exceeded in every way but one - the actual bed in the room. Perhaps it was just our room, but we had a terrible mattress which was difficult to sleep on. Even the most beautiful hotel, with the friendliest people and best food is disappointing when you cannot sleep well. It was not just a personal preference (some people like it more firm, others softer), this mattress was thin and you could feel the springs - and that is soooo unfortunate when everything else was so stellar. I hope it was just our room/bed.
