Nice place great history

If you enjoy staying at historic properties, you'll probably love this place: the former mansion of one of San Jose's most prominent families, its been beautifully restored and maintained in the style of the Gilded Age. Interesting balance between the historic touches and modern art. Well located, with plenty of parking. I just had three little complaints. First, check in isn't until 4pm. I was on a tight schedule and wanted to get into my room ASAP; the front desk staff said they'd text me as soon as the room became available, but they didn't. I ended up going back to the front desk at 4:15, and the room had already been serviced. Second, the ice machine on my floor was broken. And third, the rooms (at least in my building) were nicely appointed but incredibly dark, with few light sources. Oh, and the breakfast options were either a lavish buffet ($28.99) or Continental (pastries, coffee, and oatmeal - $15.99). No option to order a savory/protein b'fast off a menu. Other than that, it's a lovely place to stay.

It's amazing place 😍

Celebrating our 40th wedding annivarsary. The place was definetly dated. The elevator floor was dirty. The room was hot 80+ upon entry. AC was not working. Technician got it going and which delayed our relaxing plans. Finally got to the pool to enjoy the hot tub and it was out of service and planned to be fixed next day. Got corrected around 4pm next day. The resort decided to have the maintenance man to clean the outside of the building right outide our room window at 7:45am. There went our resting in the morning. Very disappointing experience from a Hilto property. I brought it to the attention to hotel staff on check out and would of thought there would of been some sort of compensation offered. They just pologized for the inconvience. Very disappointing.

Beautiful grounds, close to a park N/A

the place itself is great, and the pool is amazing. they were having a couple of different weddings there, which was very fun to watch the wedding parties walking around. I actually really loved the place. it took FORTY-FIVE MINUTES to check in. The "system was down", so the girl at the front desk was sending other workers off to "check the rooms" to find us a room. Multiple times they came back and said, "no there are suitcases in there", which made me think they were going in to other people's rooms. do they not have a better back up system? It took so long to check in, that by the time I got to the swimming pool, I had five minutes before they closed it and was unable to swim. I did swim the next day. The thing that really upset me was that the lady in front of me, it also took a very long time for them to check her in, and they gave her a discount on her room. They did NOT give one to me. I asked for one, the girl said no. I asked if they could comp me breakfast at least, she said no. The breakfast costs $30 by the way, all they had to do to keep me happy was give a little. It was a TOTAL WASTE OF MY VACATION TIME to sit there and wait, literally 45 minutes. I am a patient person, but come on, comp me something for all the trouble. My kids missed playing with their soccer buddies (which is why we were all staying there) because by the time we got checked in, everyone was going in for the night. When I asked the next morning if that was typical of the hotel, they told me it happens every few months. Again, no offer to give me a discount or comp my breakfast. So I would not recommend this hotel. too bad, because the place itself is pretty cool.

Good location. Has a heated pool. Espresso drinks at breakfast. Basic rooms, but good quality. Breakfast is very basic.

All staff we encountered were exceptionally helpful , from being walked to our room, changes to advertised menu due to dietary preferences to recommendations. Could not fault our stay here. A perfect end to an amazing stay in California.

Our stay overlapped the stay of a big soccer team and we were actually staying in the building that they were accessing. Security was amazing, they treated us as guests and we were able to roam freely (just had to show our room key). Everyone was absolutely great. We are big fans of this soccer team and were very pleased with how we were treated. The property is amazing, it’s big - easy to get lost honestly. But it’s beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.
