Good location Friendly staff No air conditioning in bedrooms Chaotic breakfast - lack of staff

Quiet and well presented. Very poor breakfast for the price and class of hotel. There was insufficient choice and poor service due to lack of staff.

Everything Nothing

A stunning hotel. Such a relaxing atmosphere. The staff took it to another level - impeccable service and so friendly - they made us feel at home, they booked bike hire for us, they booked restaurant reservations and massages, they brought our car to the front door whenever we needed it.. The beds were comfortable, the shower was great, our room was huge. We couldn't fault a thing and we didn't want to leave!

Its quiet location, serenity, attentive service and stylish decor. The wine served was warm (a very small point).

The hotel staff were very professional and friendly. Rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. For 800 euros per night [nearly the same price as the Dorchester in London], I expect the best in all departments. The breakfast was not acceptable - cold pastries, cold butter and no choice of food other than fruit salad is absolutely not what I expect to receive. I was also charged around 50 euros per day for it over and above the room cost - at this price point, I expect all breakfast to be included at the very least. Also, bath robes were not provided on night 1 - something that was rectified by night 2 but as I mention, for this price point, mistakes like this are not acceptable. Although my partner and I did not have a car, parking is a hidden fee that is not communicated upon arrival. We thankfully avoided these extra costs, however. These hidden fees should either be front-loaded onto the overall room fee if absolutely necessary but should not be separately charged. Being separately charged for below-average breakfast and parking after guests have already paid handsomely for the rooms is simply not good business. One last point that ought to be made is about the cleaning schedule at the hotel - vacuum cleaners were causing rather a lot of noise between 18:00 and 20:00 during night 2. I was about to complain about the noise but the cleaning thankfully stopped by the time I got changed to go to the reception room to make the complaint. Vacuuming shouldn't be done when guests are trying to relax in their rooms during the evenings and is most certainly best kept for the afternoons. My partner and I are regular visitors of IIl de Re and plan to return very soon to the island but despite the hotel being picture perfect, the staff being wonderful, the rooms being very luxurious and the pool being perfect , we won't be returning to this hotel.

Villa Clarisse is the ideal accommodation for a romantic short escape for couples on Ile-de-Ré : perfectly located in one of the most beautiful villages of the island (St Martin) and at walking distance from the port and most shops & restaurants yet located in a quiet & calm area, the rooms have been freshly renovated and the property perfectly curated, including a beautiful garden and a small private pool accessible to guests. Many small attentions await upon arrival, some home-made tasty and healthy meals (dinner, breakfast) and a dedicated and accommodating staff complete a well-rounded positive experience. I would definitely stay there again with my partner:) The property is advertised as featuring a Spa whose opening has been postponed for several months now and has been quite misleading for guests. Also certainly on the expensive side of the range within Ré's properties.
