Excellent breakfast, very pleasant hotel. The location is right under a railway bridge, so there was some noise, but the bridge itself is beautiful. Trains didn't seem to run overnight. Friendly staff. We stayed in a family room. Sleeping on the pull-out sofa for two nights was manageable, but it would have been uncomfortable for any longer than that.

Lovely, comfortable room. Great bar area. Lovely tasty breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. The noise from the railway bridge directly next to the inn, which we didn’t know about. Unfortunately didn’t get a decent night’s sleep and then woken at 7.30am by the bagpipes across the street, welcoming holiday makers off their cruise ship. Needless to say we were shattered

Nice view of the Forth bridge. But the train does run right over the top of the building, so you will her that until midnight and then starts up again at 6 am. Very low ceilings, which is expected for such a historic building. But I’m 6’1” and smoked my head on the ceiling and door frames a couple of times.

Cosy rooms, unfortunately we didn’t face the firth or the bridge but still it was a nice stay. Drinks and food were fab. Staff very friendly and helpful. No issues.

The location is beautiful! The food was nice Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the hotel was far below an acceptable standard. I found hair and dirt in the bed sheets, as well as hair around the shower tap. The fitted carpet was also visibly filthy and badly in need of cleaning. What was particularly disappointing was that the cleaner left the clean towels directly on the floor, which is completely unhygienic. Overall, the level of cleanliness was unacceptable, especially for a hotel booked through Booking.com. Basic hygiene and housekeeping standards should be a minimum expectation for guests.

The location is fab! Easy train journey into Edinburgh. Good car parking. Breakfast served until 11 am! Fantastic! Rooms need TLC. Areas of the shower needed a good dousing of Flash with Bleach!! A couple of armchairs would have added a bit of comfort.

Cute little pub. We ate downstairs and the food was good. Didn’t really hear a lot of pub noise from our room which was good. Sofa bed wasn’t made up for us and had to request bedding (despite the booking being for 4 people) When we pulled out the sofa bed, it barely fits in the room. And then you can’t access the bathroom without climbing on top and over the sofa bed. Check in is in the middle of the pub, finding someone to check us in wasn’t an easy process. I booked the property because we had an early flight the next morning but it is NOT an easy access airport hotel so don’t book it if that’s what you’re needing.

Good location and parking was convenient. The room was a huge disappointment. Not a double bed as advertised, actually two twin beds pushed together so not comfortable. Pillows were lumpy. The room decor was drab, flaking plasterwork, damp staining to ceiling, unpleasant smell constantly from the bathroom, poor hanging space for clothing. Overpriced.

Stayed at the Hawes Inn 8 years ago it was fabulous then and still is, it’s clean well maintained and has nice staff . The only downside is that it has got so expensive to stay but everywhere in Edinburgh is like this and also the WiFi is very poor, but other than that it’s a great place. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
