Really well located, very friendly and accommodating staff! Outdated bathroom

Beautiful property, loved the quirky mosaic walls. Full of character, clean comfy and I had my own mini courtyard!

The location is excellent; centrally located, on a quiet street in the heart of Paris. The propietor was very nice and helpful. The room was small but had everything you need (I got a room with its own bathroom) and lovely views. There is a balcony that faces a courtyard with plants and vines that is lovely. Just be aware that the rooms don't have air conditioning. It was a very cool day when I stayed there so this wasn't a problem, but it would be rough on a hot day. The walls are VERY thin. It's an old building, so that's just the way it is, but you will hear every guest in the hall hauling their luggage (no elevator) to their rooms. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. It did quiet down at night - other guests were very curteous.

Some design choices in the room were a bit questionable, e.g. having colonialist wall decals and shrunken head sculptures everywhere. Bathroom was riddled with mold. The shower situation wasn't great either: the lock in the shower head holder was broken, so the head would recoil backwards from the tiniest addition of water pressure and just shoot water on the back wall. No hand towels were provided for drying your hands.

Modest rooms in the heart of Paris with a beautiful garden. Clean, daily cleaning. Easy access everywhere.

It was in a perfect location for shopping, tourism, eating, etc. The hotel has a very bohemian feel and is quite lovely. No elevator, but that truly wasn't a problem.

Superb location, walkable to major sites. Clean. Comfy bed. Spacious bathroom. Peaceful and quiet for sleeping. Lovely terrace and garden that smelled like roses. Professional, friendly and helpful reception staff. Safe. Tucked away in a side street but somehow still close to all the action. I would prefer shampoo and conditioner provided for hair, rather than multipurpose liquid soap. A small safe in the room would be useful to lock up passport, etc. The wall murals are creative and I believe the original intent of the artist was good. However, society evolves and in the Africa room the Savorgnan de Brazzaville au Congo is not aligned with the times. It depicts Africans looking to the Italian-French explorer for guidance in a posture of servitude. Along the bottom half of the wall it looks like crates of coffee and cacao. It is not empowering to people from the former French colony. France exploited Congolese people and resources for their own gain. Also there is a statue of a female African woman holding a baby. On top of the statue’s head was a hat, similar to the hat painted on top of Savorgnan’s head. This seems wrong to me. Please don’t place an explorer’s hat on the head representing the sacred feminine. There is controversy as he is not perceived as a completely benign character in the Congo. Honouring him as a founding father of the Congo elicited protests among some Congolese as he was declared to have raped a Congolese woman who was the equivalent of a vestial virgin and an African Princess. I debated about sharing these comments because I truly enjoyed my stay and liked the staff. Maybe updating the mural to better align with the times, be more empowering to all people and guests is the answer? Thank you

Walls are slightly thin, if neighbors are loud, you might need earplugs

Perfect location in center of all the tourists destinations. Everything is within a 25 minute walk. Right down the road from the Seine. Louvre is 10 minutes walk, Notre Dame close. Beautiful garden and balcony. Staff friendly. Can’t beat the price for a place to stay in center of Paris. The restaurant Nesle is across street and staff friendly and speak English. No hotel restaurant. No morning coffee. But it’s an older hotel only 19 rooms run by family. You have to pay for room with private bathroom so be aware of that when you book. I got the bathroom room but I am older. This is like staying at someone’s home not American style hotel but I was fine with it

Beautiful garden and balcony you can sit at and smoke if you want. Staff was kind. Mostly speak French. Some English. I used my translate app on I phone The location was perfect. Walking distance to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Musee de Orsee, Tullere gardens etc which is why I got a room there. Price was good Ok, this is not the Ritz. It’s an older property. No TV in room and my comforter was due for trash disposal. But, the bed was very comfortable Furniture and knickknacks were old and African themed. But every room is different.

Beautiful location, helpful staff and the hotel character and rooms are charming… charming feeling to the old style house and rooms .. if you like that kind of thing and I do, I would stay there again … I would not say I did not like, it can be a problem to some people that there is no elevator, but I think if they put one it would ruin the character of the place .. but something that someone with mobility issues may consider …

The location is incredible. You're in a lovely old neighborhood and a two-minute walk to the Seine. This charming old building takes you back centuries, including with the spiral staircase, but the rooms are equipped with modern amenities. I love the quirky artfulness of the decor. The staff is so kind and helpful and the room was impeccably clean, albeit a bit smaller than I was expecting. There was a lovely terrace on the same floor as my room, which was a very nice bonus. I feel like this hotel is a wonderful little very affordable secret in an otherwise quite expensive quarter of Paris. I can't say I was impressed with the toiletries in the room but that's largely my only criticism. A few details could be attended to like replacing the bathroom waste can that was missing its lid.

The staff were helpful and kind. The room had good space and a window to peek through. Lively neighborhood and close to metro stations. The radiator kept the room toasty even with the cold weather. The toilet is shared and outside of the room (although the listing did state that), with no sink nearby. The shower always was ice cold even though turning on the hot water.

Good location

Property is well located right in St Germain. Lots of restaurants & shops right outside the door. Easy walking distance to other neighborhoods and sites. Great helpful fun staff. Hotel de Nesle is decorated fun manner.

I did extensive research on this place prior to booking, reading all the reviews on Booking.com, Google, Tripadvisor, etc. So I knew it would be "rough". That said, I opted for location over comfort and from that standpoint, it was spectacular. Right in the heart of St. Germain-des-Pres, beside the Pont Neuf, you're within walking distance to all the major sights. That said, I wouldn't do it again... The staff was friendly, though I wouldn't say they were especially helpful or welcoming. I think the best way to think of this hotel is like a hostel, except without the socializing. There is no proper lobby or congregational area. You enter the building and immediately head up the stairs to your small, cramped, dusty room. There is, however, an interior courtyard with a few bistro tables and chairs -- though it's not particularly well landscaped. As other reviewers have said, the shared toilets are in the stairwell (and tiny) and are rather precarious to access, particularly in the dark of night. Some people might find this place quaint and "very European." If that's you, go for it! But know that it is tight and totally barebones. Just a little bit of attention would add a lot to the hotel experience. While the bathroom in my room (a sink & shower) were clean, as were my bedsheets, there was a thick layer of dust on the dresser. The lamp was broken and the lampshade askew. There was a big, broken wicker trunk (that took up a lot of space in the very small room) with questionable items inside. And the bedspreads on both twin beds looked like they hadn't been washed in a while. There is no way to inform the cleaning staff to not enter the room. My first morning, after a long travel day, I was awoken by a man entering my room to clean it. Not a huge inconvenience, but easily remedied with door tags. There is also no drinking water. Again, not a huge inconvenience as there is a store down the street where you can purchase bottles. But at $180+/night, I'd like to have access to drinking water.

The best thing about this hotel is the location and the price. Everything we wanted to see in Paris was extremely convenient to this spot. Even the RER from the airport was convenient to find. This place is LOUD! I don't know what the staff is doing so late at night. We had to get up early to get to the airport, and someone was moving furniture until almost 2am. We barely got any sleep, and it was a rough travel day.

No elevator, but that was stated in the booking ad.
