I always do a lot of research before I book a hotel in Paris. It is very important to me that the hotel has good recent reviews and is renovated. I also never pick the cheapest hotel. The room was esthetically pleasing and a nice size, but that's where it ended. Sadly the bathroom didn't look renovated and had a ton of previous water damage, peeling paint. The AC unit was dirty and dusty. Also I never once felt valued as a customer and no one ever apologized for all of the inconveniences. Well we didn't start off great because this particular room was on the 1st floor and required not only walking through the dining room/ergo the kitchen and then through a dark hallway where a key was required. Next was the impossibly narrow spiral stair case with no access to an elevator. So we had to lug our heavy suitcases up this narrow staircase just to get to our room. The room was also next to the cleaning crews's utility closet. I already expressed at that moment how upset I was with all of this, and the front desk person told me I had no choice and that the hotel was full. This was a lie because I then tried to book a room through Booking.com for that evening and there was availability. Overnight the room was exceptionally loud with the people using the stairwell at all hours of the night and the people in the room over us were extremely loud banging, walking heavily, talking, etc. until 3am. Then the next morning we woke up early, because it's so very important to make good use of your time in the most beautiful city in the world. I turn on the shower, and NO HOT WATER. Not only that, the shower drain was clogged and water was everywhere including outside of the shower on the floor in front of the sink and toilet. Also the faucet to the sink was extremely loose and moved all around. I was furious. I complained to the front desk person and he said it was impossible to get someone to fix overnight and that he was aware of the problem, I also let him know about the noise and another guest said it was very loud for him as well. This is when I called Booking.com customer service. I was assured that I would receive communication within 30 minutes and I was told I'd receive a discount for my troubles and there was never any follow up whatsoever. So we ended up forgoing a shower for that morning. We returned later that evening and thankfully the hot water had been restored and the clog was cleared out.

Perfect location. Nice and helpful staff. AC in the room (especially important when it is hot outside). -

I recently stayed at this charming boutique hotel and had a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home. My room was clean and comfortable, with a cozy atmosphere that added to the overall charm of the place. While it is a small hotel, that only adds to its appeal, making it feel intimate and welcoming. I truly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy getaway!

The location is very good but please note that the taxi / uber won’t be able to drop you off or pick you up at the door since it’s an alley that doesn’t allow cars. On the other hand if you don’t specify you might get a 5th floor by stairs. There’s only elevator till the 4th floor so make sure you don’t get a room in the 5th floor like us.

The location is excellent. The staff. It would be nice to have a small closet to put clothes in.

It was just renovated, pretty and clean. The location was great That I asked for extra towels and every day the cleaning lady left me only one

The hotel is newly refurbished, room is small but it is clean and cozy for a family of 4. Bed is comfortable. The staffs are very friendly and helpful who always give constructive advices. They allowed us early check in when we were there. Breakfast is nice with various options. We would definitely come again in our next Paris trip. Keep up the good work!

The bathroom is small and cramped.

The room was nice and clean, and there was free coffee, tea, sparkling and still water available in the lobby at any time. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we also got a free upgrade to one of the premium rooms. The hotel is being renovated, but we had no disturbances whatsoever. A full-length mirror and some single-use slippers would be a great addition.

I'd like to thank amazing staff of Hotel d'Espagne, especially Clement. The best receptionist ever. His responsiveness and enthusiasm made my trip so much better, his restaurant recommendation was amazing and the surprise that Clement prepared for me on my bday, it was lovely. Thank you. Merci pour tout!

Room was small but functional since we did not spend much time in it since we were sightseeing and using it more for just sleeping. Has all the basic things you need. Location was excellent for moving around and loved the alley location which provides some quietness to the hustle and bustle. Staff was very accommodating. Shower was a little tight and there was a high step up to a slippery basin. We managed fine but a bath mat in the shower or some grip tape would be more reassuring and prevent someone from slipping and falling.

location, near everything. broken light fixture, broken outlet device, very, very, very small room.

The bed is extremely comfortable

The location is very convenient. The street is very quiet. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was totally satisfactory. My room was tiny, although it did have all the basics provided.

Central location to many restaurants and museums Pricy but also too small We have a window but it is facing a wall

Fantastic location within the city. You’re super close to a bunch of restaurants and the majority of all the transit options. It was never more than a 5-7 minute walk to the bus/train/metro that I needed to get on. It could definitely use a little love/ updating but overall for the price it was exactly as expected.

There are steps to go up to get to our room which was rather bothersome with our bags. The shower was very small. Also, there is no switch to turn off the fan in the bathroom.

Very convenient and nice location.
