Prices are very reasonable. I was satisfied with the bed and bathroom. The location is fairly convenient for visiting many Los Angeles attractions. From the hotel, I used Uber to get to Union Station, and from Union Station it was easy to use trains and other public transport to reach places such as Hollywood, Disneyland (one bus directly go to Disneyland), Universal Studios, and the Walk of Fame. Union Station also has a convenient airport bus service to LAX, which made travelling to the airport much easier. The cleanliness was very poor. The floor was visibly dirty, and I did not feel comfortable walking in the room without slippers. The lighting was also confusing and unpleasant, and the room had a strong smell that reminded me of a hospital or medicine, which made the stay uncomfortable. I also found the room design quite strange. There was a monkey-themed decoration near one of the lights, which I personally found creepy, especially at night when the lights were switched off. The biggest problem, however, was the door access system. The hotel uses access cards, but my card repeatedly failed to work. Sometimes I had to try inserting or tapping it many times before the door would open. This happened to me around three times during my stay and was extremely frustrating and stressful. It became such a concern that even while I was enjoying my day at Disneyland, I was thinking about whether I would be able to get back inside the hotel when I returned. I also did not feel particularly safe around the hotel at night. When I returned late from Disneyland, there were very few people around and I saw a person who appeared to be experiencing homelessness close to the hotel. On one occasion, the hotel entrance was locked and my access card was again not working, so I had to ask my Uber driver to wait with me until I could get inside. As a solo traveller, this was very uncomfortable. The room facilities were also poorly designed. There was no practical place to sit and eat a meal. The table was very high while the chair was very low, making it almost impossible to eat comfortably. I ended up using the bedside cupboard as a table for my meals. I stayed for three nights, and unfortunately, these issues made the overall experience quite disappointing. The repeated door-access problems were particularly unacceptable and caused unnecessary stress throughout my stay.

I left my important laptop in my room by mistake, but the reception had kindly kept it safe for me. That was a great help and I was very grateful. The room was clean. The room was clean, which was good, but the air conditioning was rather noisy. However, as they had provided earplugs, it wasn’t a major problem.

I especially enjoyed being within walking distance of Chinatown’s restaurants and cultural attractions. Overall, the Royal Pagoda is a convenient place to stay when exploring Chinatown and Downtown Los Angeles. I would recommend it to budget-conscious travelers looking for a clean, comfortable, and centrally located accommodation.

Everything was nice. I will definitely stay there again. The pizza place across the street though is amazing.

This is an interesting, funky, vintage building where the rooms have been updated and kept very clean. The first impression walking into my room was favorable with quirky embellishments. During my stay I realized there were deficiencies: there is a counter under the TV and one wooden chair that is table-, not counter-height; not comfortable for eating or using my laptop. There are several lighting fixtures in the room, but none useful for reading or giving adequate light, other than the spotlight which is very harsh. The plug for the coffee pot is embedded in the counter which took a while to locate, having to use my flashlight. There is a good-size refrigerator but no microwave. There was not one time I could get into my room due to the sensitive card-key and calling or walking down to the office for assistance.

Room was clean but nothing spectacular. Air conditioner work well. The more accessible wall plug-ins in this room than, but most of them were connected to the main room light and did not work when light was off. There were plug-ins on the lamps. Therefore, you may have trouble with charging your items over night. The bathroom was mallet than most motel bathrooms I have stayed in.

Our event was very close about a 5 mins walk which was perfect for our group. Also loved how cold the ac was. Gets super cold. Shower had hot and cold water loved it. Parking was bad, Beds were very uncomfortable & stiff.

Interesting room decor but worked. Only issue is that only drink option was vending machines, neither of which worked, so thirst was not satisfied, but there is a refridgerator in room so bring drinks!!!

Amazingly close to dodger stadium. Noisy AC, shower curtain flips around when showering, shower drain cover pops off, no plugs near bed

Perfect place to stay if on a budget. Close to downtown. Parking is limited, but other than that, everything was great.
