Central location was a huge bonus. Breakfast was exceptional, great choice. Staff attention to detail was second to none, in particular Elaine and her colleagues on reception could not have extended their excellence and assistance any further. Highly recommended for anyone looking a central location and enjoys an extra level of customer service. Thanks again Montcalm Hotel. Keep up the good work.

I am a regular at Montcalm Brewery becasue they always give such a warm and professional welcome, the staff are all very attentive and cheerful. Excellent breakfast, very comfortable beds, great location with walking distance to Liverpool Street and transport, restaurants etc. I like everything about the hotel - most especailly because we try to stay in the main historic building. The bathrooms might need refreshing at some point but facilities are all excellent.

Breakfast was good. Basically, everything except for the air conditioner and the safe. We were staying in this hotel the third time. This time we were given an old room where the safe box and the air conditioner did not function. There was also an issue with the shower. As a result we were sweating and delayed for the dinner with friends. Fitness room could be a bit bigger for the 5 star hotel of such size.

Well placed ease to many underground stations. Only 2 minor quirks: Lighting in room - too many lights but none gave you great light as very little natural light. Coffee at Breakfast. Not great and queue and get your own from a machine.

Location and design No AC it wasn’t working

Room. Breakfast. Service. Aircon was 'on' but no air came out - on an evening where temperatures were in the 30's. i confirmed before arrival that the aircom in this room was working. Working was deemed by the hotel to mean it turned on at the button, not that cold air came out.

Exceptional

The lobby interior was very cool. Room was mostly clean, toiletries provided in the bathroom were of a premium quality and the location was great. Celebrating our birthdays and anniversary here was a massive disappointment. What started as warm service with an offer of free breakfast was clearly just pre-emptive damage control for a broken property. Our first room was sweltering due to faulty air conditioning. Reception wasted nearly an hour promising maintenance and a useless portable unit (in a room with sealed windows), only moving us after we chased them down following a no-show. To add insult to injury, they tried to strip their own free breakfast offer during the room change, sheepishly restoring it only when challenged. The second room was no better, sending a staff member with us to "reassure us". The air conditioning was again broken, forcing said staff to admit property-wide HVAC failures. They promised maintenance and a portable unit a second time, then ghosted us entirely. The bathroom was stained with moisture damage, complete with a dust-choked extractor fan and a shower fixture that looked ready to drop from the ceiling. Being able to open a window in the latter room and a comfortable bed were the only saving graces in a stay defined by one-star management and crumbling infrastructure masquerading as a five-star experience.
