The foyer was lovely The bathroom taps didn’t work and the club double room was tiny, the bathroom was very small and shower was not great as had to duck to fit under it, wouldn’t stay here again

The breakfast was excellent. Location to amenities excellent The rooms were very tiny even advertised as Delux. The view was of a building site and very noisy. The toilet had been placed in a position you could not sit straight on.

Beautiful building, lobby, lounge, dining room and staircase all very grand and filled with beautiful historical original features. Excellent breakfast! The location was excellent being fairly quiet but very close to hyde park and Kensington gardens and an easy stroll away from a lively high street and transport systems. There was nothing that I didn't like. The only very slight niggle was a very narrow shower screen that made it difficult to shower in the bath without getting the floor quite wet. I found the bed to be too firm but that's just a personal preference. The room was small but it was sufficient.

Close to two subway stations I had paid for an air-conditioning room, but did not receive that. There was no reimbursement for it. I had asked for additional fan, there was no fan. I had asked for a room change, they said they would change my room, but didn’t in the end. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place.

It is close to some things in London, but there are better areas with better service. I would not stay here again. I reserved two rooms close together as we were traveling with our kids. We arrived at 3 pm which is the check in time to be told that one of our rooms was still being cleaned. Over an hour later, we went to the desk to find out if our room was ready just to be told that there was now construction being done on it and that we would have to take a smaller room on another floor even though we paid for a larger room. Also, the rooms were so hot that people were complaining, and the staff did nothing to help. There was no air movement at all and no way of opening any windows as they were all painted shut. I really wanted to like this hotel, but I cannot recommend it and we definitely will not go back.

Unique historic property. Could benefit from some upgrades.

Location. In the height of summer in London, air conditioning was an important amenity on the list. The comfort of the hotel, and the location. Location - great! Comfort - terrible. I stayed for one night and on the hotel advertises air conditioning along with a host of other amenities, amenities that were non-existent and so leads to false advertising. After checking-in I was given room 110 on the first floor. I was so tired from traveling I switched the air-con on and fell asleep. I woke up probably about an hour later dripping in sweat - the air con was pumping out hot humid air. The panel was showing a 'check-system' message. I went down to reception and mentioned this and only then was told that the air conditioning wasn't working on that floor... I asked if I could change the room and was then told that the air conditioning wasn't working on the other floors either - yet it works fine in the reception area... I was offered fans, which were already in the room. I opened the windows as much as the safety feature would allow and turned the fans up - just hot air being pumped around the room. Fine - I could deal, though not ideal and was annoyed that the lack of a/c wasn't mentioned upon check-in, turned the a/c system off and that at least stopped the hot air being pumped into the room. I was going out that evening and wanted to iron a shirt, went to find the iron advertised in amenities - no iron. Fine, t-shirt it is. I bought milk and some other items to keep in the fridge - fridge wasn't working. I found that out next day when the milk had already gone off. The reception manager on the night I checked-in told me I was only there for one night so I should be fine..! It doesn't matter whether I was there for a night, a week, a month or. year! the facilities offered were not available. I was offered a partial refund - which I never received and was told I'd receive email confirmation of this - it never happened. Do not stay here.

Location and near Tube stations The hotel knowingly gave me a room with aircond that did not work because I checked in late past midnight. The room did not have an open window. The stuffy room made me very sick. The next morning I asked if they could fix it, they immediately offered another room which was immediately available and with a working aircond.

The air did not work in our room and we were really uncomfortable the first night. They switched our rooms and the air worked

Air conditioning not working and tiny room and bathroom.

Historic character but run down facility. We booked two rooms, one had air one did not. We were charged the same price for both rooms. When we complained to the front desk about paying the same price for both rooms, they stated that only managers could make adjustments to billing but no managers were on site and complaints are forwarded to off-site personnel to respond. They also use a private taxi service if you request for them to call a taxi, beware their taxi drivers are significantly more expensive than regular taxis in London and do not take cards.

Perfect location next to Kensington park! 5 minutes to bus or underground! Shops and dining close by! Rooms are very small and AC was a bit lacking for heatwave.

Location - close to two tube stations. Staff very helpful. Breakfast plentiful and fresh. Beautiful old building - comfortable lounge. A little pricey. Air conditioner did not work first night and it was sweltering- they moved us to another room, but they shouldn’t have put us in a room where the air conditioning was broken.

Clean modern and comfortable with great location Nothing, all was excellent

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Location, Cleanness, front desk and room service staff was awesome. Breakfast was VERY good with lots of verities making me and my family member not to worry about food until lunch time. Rooms are a bit smaller than expected...!! And there was no fridge in the room making it hard to keep any beverage cold for later consumption.! Also, getting out of the shower basin was a bit risky. It was higher from ground than normal, and I had to be careful getting out after taking a shower

Lots of character in the common areas of the hotel. Rooms are very small. Amenities listed hair dryer however there were none in the room. Carpet in rooms pulled away from walls.
