I give Hostel Ikal a 10+ rating because the whole vibe was excellent. The Hostal felt homey-like, very secured and safe and the owner and manager were extremely gracious and helpful with all my needs. This place far exceeded my expectations, and I will always return when in San Christobal. I cannot say enough good things about this hostel. I highly recommend it to everyone. I can't say anything that I didn't like.

The guys running this place are amazing. I was sick for the first couple of days being here and they did everything they could to help me get better. The hostel is spacious and clean and has plenty of areas to relax and meet other traveler's. The beds are very comfortable. The location is also great, hidden away on a quiet street just of the main tourist area with plenty of good options of food nearby including one of the best bakery’s in town.

Great location, everything you want to see and do is in 10-15 min walk distance. Clean and nice space. Great host! Don’t forget to put your earplugs in so you won’t wake up from the cannon shots they ‘celebratory’ do every day. But other then that it’s super quiet here and the rooms are dark so you can sleep well ?

The staff was very friendly and happy to help. The location is very convenient, in the middle of the town centre. The roof terrace is gorgeous. The place is a work in progress. You can tell that someone’s putting a lot of effort but it’s just not quite properly renovated yet. Our room was extremely damp and mouldy, and any sinks/pipes smelled of rotting water.

Staying at Ikal felt more like staying at a friend’s place than at a hostel, we immediately felt welcome and it was pretty hard to leave. A truly unique place!

The cost of room, the staff, the location, the building, the rooftop terrace. This is a great hostal one I'd like to revisit. I lost my glasses case somewhere in the hostal, so I put my rayban sunglasses in my bag as my glasses cost more, and the outcome was a lens cracking. No fault of the hostal, but I figured I'd mention it as I didn't like it...
