5 stars hotel in the city center. We stayed in a deluxe room in the 2nd floor very quiet. Both Bedroom and bathroom were spacious and very clean. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and there also was a pillow menu in case you needed something different, softer, natural fiber and so on . Also the night mask menu was a plus. One morning my husband was feeling unwell and the breakfast staff was so kind as to arrange a tray to be brought to our room. Only a couple of downside: 1. The spa comes at an extra charge, which was not clearly advertised; 2. We got a ticket for parking right at the corner and we were not able to pay since the machine was not accepting card payment. We parked only to unload our suitcases and cane right down to move the car. It would be helpful to have either an unloading area or hotel staff to help you with directions for the nearest parking before getting a ticket (the police lady that day was on fire apparently).

The location was good, very near the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, such as dealing with luggage and when asking for directions etc, the young chap on the door walked us over to the road and gave us directions to the station. Hotel was clean and well kept, cleaning staff busy and working hard to turn around the rooms. Hotel is very nicely furnished, the bar area in particular stunning. The room was well turned out, nicely decorated, luxurious furnishings, fridge & coffee facilities, comfy bed, good sized room and a roomy modern bathroom with robes/slippers. I didn't like the issue of the hidden charge for the swimming pool. When selecting a hotel through Booking.com, I filtered for hotel with a pool, which gave an option of 4-5 hotels so we chose the Municipal at the advertised price for a hotel with a pool. It wasn't until I had paid, that the next day the Municipal sent an e-mail stating the pool would be £50 for 2 hours. I felt that this drip pricing was extremely misleading. I wasn't able to raise it with Booking.com as you get thrown into an automated circle and which you are unable to escalate, so this in itself is another issue and will be affecting my future booking with this company. I then tried to raise it with the hotel who did apologise for the confusion and yes it is indeed additional. So who's fault is this? not the customer, who has paid for accommodation with facilities listed. Back to the Municipal itself, some things have been scrimped on, no hairdryer in the room, yet an ironing board & iron. Kettle & coffee machine yet minimal couple of teabags & 2 pods for the coffee, one of the many notices said to ask reception for replenishments and fresh milk, queued at reception, they said, ask the bar, bar staff looked a bit puzzled, but handed some over, we just bought extra milk from the shop down the road which was easier. Brand new looking bathroom, yet shower wand was mounted neck-height and not adjustable, showering caused flooding to bathroom floor.

we didn't eat there, but the staff were amazing and the hotel lobby, restaurant area, etc are stunning. We would have loved to go to the pool, however, the price to go in was extortionate - it really should be available for guests.

Beautiful building in a great location for bars, restaurants, shops and the waterfront. Nothing
