We had a great stay at Holiday Inn Dearborn! The staff was friendly, and helpful! The breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were very clean! We were impressed with the experience! I only wish that this property had a hot tub, but I would still highly recommend this hotel!

Rooms were great. Staff nice and helpful worked hard to maintain clean areas. One downfall was the pool was cloudy and cold.

This was our first day in Detroit and the room was excellent! The beds were super comfortable. The breakfast was as good as it could get for a free breakfast. We would definitely stay here again!

We needed a getaway after a summer of our son's chemotherapy treatments. We choose this hotel as it was close to the Henry Ford museum and village. It had an excellent breakfast, the pool area was clean, and the room had 2 queens and a sofa bed, which was clearly mentioned on the website. The room was clean and the staff was generous about extra towels. We were thankful for this place.

As soon as we entered our first room, there was a very strong and irritating chemical/new-renovation smell. We opened the window and kept it open for several hours, but the smell was still very noticeable. After spending some time in the room, my eyes became irritated and I started feeling physically uncomfortable. When we reported the problem to the front desk, we were told that the hotel had recently been renovated. They eventually offered us another room, which we appreciated, but we had to wait until almost midnight before we were able to move. The second room was much better. The next morning, I asked whether some compensation or a partial refund could be offered because the issue had significantly affected our stay. We were told that because we booked through Expedia, the hotel could not issue a refund. They offered IHG points instead, and I provided my IHG account information, although I have not seen the points added as of the time of this review. I understand that hotels need to renovate, and I appreciate that the staff eventually moved us to a better room. However, I don’t believe a room with such a strong chemical odor should have been assigned to guests before it had been adequately ventilated. When the odor is strong enough to cause eye irritation and physical discomfort, this is more than a minor inconvenience. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not stay at this property again.

No good

Earl, in kitchen services, was very helpful and friendly. We were happy that he was always available to make our day pleasant. The carpet was a little old and dirty looking. Can’t remember if there was an ice machine available.

Room was clean but exterior needs cleaning and renovating. No a/c in breakfast room. Very uncomfortable. Worst Holiday Inn I have ever stayed. Rough personnel at check in desk (both of the ones I dealt with). Very mediocre breakfast.

Room was okay, like many of these renovated properties I don't think they went with quality labor. Paint in the bathroom was shoddy dripped onto the tile, the toilet wasn't tightly bolted to the floor, and the heat in the shower was hard to adjust. Bad lighting, as well. Our room faced Telegraph Rd which meant we were listening to street racers all night. We're not light sleepers, but if you are you might want to find somewhere further way.

Bathroom drain plugged, lights didn't work (no bulb in lamp by window and table lamp inoperable), no exhaust fan in bathroom (grate in ceiling smashed) grout in bathroom unsightly, 2 wall switches inoperable., paint job has many imperfections. I told the front desk that this remodeled room should have a long punchlist. Terrible restoration contractor...should hold payment on that room.

A nice bonus was the 24/7 coffee and tea. The coffee machine freshly grinds the beans for each cup, which was a great touch. Breakfast was typical for this type of hotel, but unfortunately there were no gluten-free breads or other clearly designated GF options. It would be nice to see more choices for guests with dietary restrictions. Our biggest concern was the pool. It appeared clean, but the walls and floor have an extremely rough, pebble-like surface with surprisingly sharp edges. Our six-year-old actually cut his feet and stopped swimming because they hurt. Since we specifically choose hotels with pools for our kids, this was disappointing. I strongly recommend water shoes, especially for children. Overall, a clean, pleasant hotel with some thoughtful amenities, but the pool surface definitely needs attention.

The room as soon as we walked in had a horrible smell. The floor our room was on had over half the rooms being renovated and painted happening while we where there the smell was so strong. The breakfast was not good. My biggest grief is that the handicap parking area was blocked off our whole stay.

Our room was just finished being completely redone. It looked super and the new bed was awesome.
