Steel House Copenhagen - Hostel

The location is good, and I agree that the gym and swimming pool are a nice extra, especially because it is quite rare for a hostel to offer these facilities. However, considering the overall experience, I feel the hostel promises more than it actually delivers. I also found it quite expensive, although part of that was because I accidentally made two separate bookings, so that particular issue was my own mistake and not really relevant to the hostel itself. What I do find unreasonable is charging guests extra to use the kitchen. For a hostel, I honestly find this ridiculous. On the positive side, towels are provided without an additional rental charge, which I appreciated. However, the cleanliness of the bedding was disappointing. The pillow I was sleeping on and the duvet were both visibly stained, as you can see in the photos. This is simply not acceptable, especially when it comes to something as basic as bedding. Unfortunately, the staff was another major disappointment. Check-in is self-service, which is fine, but when I went to reception to ask where the gym was and where my room was located, I was spoken to very rudely. Even the cleaning staff would walk past without any friendliness. I repeatedly said “good morning” and was met with looks that made me feel completely unwelcome. This was my first time in Denmark, and unfortunately this hostel left a very negative impression on me. I actually spent a day in Sweden during my trip, and the contrast was incredible — people there were much friendlier and more welcoming. Overall, I am very disappointed with my stay. The facilities have potential, but the attitude of the staff, the condition of the bedding, and the additional charges really affected my experience. I definitely would not stay here again.

The entire room was uncleaned. We found old love letters, bandaids and toilet paper by the bed. The ceiling was covered in spiderwebs and we had to take care of over 12 spiders in the room. Roomservice cleaned after our first night, but still everything mentioned above was still there, they had only changed the sheets. During the night there was also a loud noice that sounded like construction work. I’m not a picky person but this was disgusting.

Clean, location, on-site activities, live music. 366 Rocking chairs:) No option to pick bunk number or up/low. No privacy curtain on bunk.

Easy to check in and out, great hostel experience. The amenities like the gym and pool came at an extra cost.

Shared facilities on ground floor were great. Also cafeteria options. Room was very small. So small there was no closet or any space to leave clothes or anything.

Common areas of the hotel are great. Large, well equipped, very comfortable. The private room was very tiny we’ve expected that. To spend there couple nights is the size of the room more than enough.
