River Hotel

First of all welcomed by a very friendly and helpful front desk. Room was clean and beautiful view of river. Just overall great stay.

The view was beautiful. The hot water took a while to get hot but other than that I enjoyed my stay.

To be honest, we only used the hotel facilities for the basics; the staff was always attentive, and the hotel was in excellent condition. However, the standout feature is its prime location—right in the heart of downtown Chicago—with great connections to all the major tourist attractions to walking distance.

Overall staff was very helpful, great service. And location it’s also great on a historical building

They have water bottles that you can refill on their water fountain on every floor. Haven’t seen this in any other place

Enjoy our stay very much at the River Hotel. Was there during the Air and Water Show weekend this summer. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in and check out processes were smooth. The view from our room on the 28th floor was gorgeous. The only thing that would have made it even better was to have a microwave and fridge in the room.

This hotel is in an amazing location! The exterior is well kept and the lobby area is really nice. They have water bottle filling stations and Nespresso coffee pods in the rooms. Housekeeping made sure our beds were made and amenities well stocked. The gentlemen at the front desk were pleasant and helpful! We stayed in a Suite with a kitchenette. The room was spacious and quite enough! We weren’t ever aware of our neighbors or bothered by people in the hallway. The elevator was at times packed with people and apparently the staff doesn’t have a designated elevator so they often filled up the elevator. The bed was comfortable but squeaky. It wasn’t an oh wow bed. New mattress would go along way. The hotel is in an old building and the room had a dated feel to it. It could use a few minor updates as well as a bathroom remodel. The kitchenette was a mini fridge, a microwave and some cabinets and a tiny sink. Absolutely no plates or bowls or silverware or anything. We had to go buy all of that. Other hotels we’ve stayed in with a kitchenette usually have plates and silverware. Hotel provided a good location and a clean environment. It’s listed as a 4 star hotel but due to the dated look of our room and the need for updates as well as not having any kitchenette amenities made it more like a 3 star hotel.

Our stay at the River Hotel was fantastic! Check-in was easy and fast, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the location was perfect. It’s within walking distance of so many great places, which made exploring the area incredibly convenient. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back!

There was some kind of error where my reservation didn’t import from Expedia to the hotel’s computer system. The staff at the front desk was super helpful and got the problem fixed quickly. The property itself was clean but could have used a bit of upgrading/touch-ups. The signage out front was a bit confusing since it doesn’t actually state the name of the hotel. Beautiful view of the river from my hotel room window.

It was very hot in the room I was in. I tried to turn the AC down and it remained at an unbearable temp that I would sweat every night I went to sleep.
