The staff tried their best, they were friendly and helpful. If you're wanting photos for your Instagram and aren't bothered about normal hotel stuff, you might like it here. If you're a couple, this might suit you, but there are better hotels. In short, this hotel is very overpriced for what it is. We stayed in 5 hotels in Thailand during this visit and this one was by far the most expensive, more than twice the price of other, better hotels. We thought it would be a treat, but it wasn't even the best hotel we stayed in in Bangkok. The people running this hotel don't seem to have a hotel background, which is a shame because they could do so much more with it if they tried. - The pool was a big reason we booked this hotel, and unlike other reviewers here, we found it to be open and fairly clean. To get to it though you need to walk through reception. It's right outside the front door of the hotel, so your swim doesn't feel very private to begin with. This hotel is surrounded by a fairly poor community - Bangkok is like that, and I don't blame the hotel owners, but the local kids found it funny to shout things at us while we swam, and then they started throwing things at us. We didn't bother swimming again. And the whole pool is just 1.1m deep. - The area is just not well suited to hotel guests. If you eat in the hotel you might be OK, but if you want to go out and find food there's a real shortage of options. - The every day hotel stuff was just really badly handled. The batteries were dead in our TV remote and when I asked at reception you'd think they would have had some batteries. The first time I asked, the staff were eating and said they would bring some up, but that didn't happen. The next time I asked, they looked and looked for some batteries. In the end, they got the TV remote from a room that wasn't occupied and swapped the batteries, so that room's TV remote didn't work but mine did. - The toilet / bath / shower are only separated from the room by a curtain.

The location and river view were absolutely beautiful. The views from the rooms are spectacular and among the best if you truly want to experience the river. Though the breakfast menu was limited and slightly repetitive, the food was consistently delicious. The staff were exceptional. I had lost my bag at the airport, and they genuinely went out of their way to help me coordinate with the authorities and recover it. Extremely warm, friendly, and helpful throughout the stay. The property is perfectly tucked away — peaceful and atmospheric, yet still well connected to the city. Housekeeping needs improvement. Room cleaning was inconsistent and could definitely be much better. While the property has a charming eclectic character, parts of it feel slightly run down. Some things seemed broken or in need of maintenance and upkeep. The pool was disappointing. It was filled with leaves and the water looked dirty. Given Bangkok’s heat and humidity, a clean and well-maintained pool would have made a huge difference

The team at Amdaeng were amazing, the accommodation was lovely, the location was perfect as we're close to a ferry terminal and could easily access the temples and markets! A great experience for our family who are first time travellers and perfect for my husband and I and seasoned Thailand visitors! Nothing we lived it !

The riverside room is perfect for long holidays. The staffs are so nice and helpful.

Breakfast limited choice and the same everyday. Can only choose one type either American or local Thai for breakfast. One thing good is all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel stay most suitable for couples and adults. Not suitable for family with kids. If you are there to relax, book a room with balcony facing Chao Phraya river. Sit there have your chill beer and enjoy the views. Location is a bit out of town. No restaurant or shopping around the area. Nearest is Icon Siam and takes about 5-10 minutes by car. Bonus is the hotel restaurant/bar provides good food and prices are quite reasonable.

Front desk staff was exceptional and very helpful. The sinks for the public restrooms were unappetizing especially since they in full view going to the restaurant.

I love that it’s on the river. You can watch boats and fruit bats cruise by. The bed was comfortable and the clawfoot tub was fun. I also like the hotel’s decor and ambiance. It reminds me of a vampire inn with a rooftop bar, dark red paint and nightly flying fox sightings. The staff were all very nice and made sure I was comfortable. It’s an older hotel and the pool remains covered. It sounded like they would have taken the cover off if I had requested to swim. If you typically go for modern luxury hotels and/or want easy access to a pool or a place to sunbathe, this may not be the right choice for you. However, I would happily stay there again. It seemed a bit out of the way for subway trains. It’s a little tricky to find the first time.

Great little boutique hotel with prime river view, great balcony & quaint room styling.

Helpful and nice staff. My girlfriend loved the quirky vibe. Fair value. Parts of the room needed dusting and there are signs of needed maintenance / paint.

The location is great. We spent a lot of time going to the new mall which is literally 10 minutes away walking. The mall besides to the beautiful, it offers many choices for food and shopping. Also, its a stop for the hop on and hop off boat. Mosquitos and the pool wasn't as great. We didn't go in. To be fair, it was also the idea of finding locals like the big lizards that live near by.

Good bed and comfy pillows. Lady behind the desk was very polite and tried hard. Our outlook was a covered swimming pool. Balcony room for 1 chair, when seated can’t see over balcony. Ran out of sachet coffee for room. Drains blocked and driveway flooded. Someone smoked weed in their room and it came thru the air con and smelt disgusting. Location wasn’t that good. Very old, quirky hotel

The hotel was right next to the river with a lovely view. There was a really good restaurant on the ground floor with live music. The food was also very good and we had a great time.

The vintage vibes and the colors used Humidity at times
-
It was a bit random in terms of how it was laid out. The room was absolutely beautiful with a river view
-
Friendly helpful staff, great location although a little difficult to find. Air conditioned rooms were wonderful. Transport to the main road was a delight!!! Housekeeping let them down.

Do not stay at this place. At the same price you find such so many amazing places in Bangkok. The place is a proper catfish - opposite of the pictures they show. Dirty. Falling apart. Surrounded by slums.

This is a good hotel for those who want one of the following things : 1. You are looking to dig deeper into actual Bangkok, the every-day side of the city and to really feel the local vibe of it. It's in a really cool location, with fun things to eat, see and do all around on the opposite bank of the river. 2. You've been to Bangkok many times before and you want to escape but still be in the city. Something quiet. Maybe with a romantic partner, where you want a great bed, and a killer view of the river with a good book. Breakfast is good. Beds are super comfy and the staff is nice. It's truly very peaceful watching the river. The hotel needs a few moments of paint love at this point. Things were a little scratched. It's also very dark. Even in the daytime in the lobby, it's very shadowy. All the walls are red and the furnishings are black and it gives it almost a gothic kind of vibe that's at odds with sunny Bangkok outside. The pool was also covered and not in use when we were there, which was a bummer. Finally, I did not love our bathroom situation. The bathroom is cool, but awkward. There are two thin lace curtains you can pull around, but the toilet and shower are encased in glass. If you don't pull those (and let's be honest, even if you do) you are watching someone use the restroom. It was fine for us as a married couple, until my husband got some slight food poisoning. I went out and got a beer so he could have the room. Haha. I think if you're like a parent and a teenager or friends traveling, this bathroom is really really awkward. I'm just overall tired of "sexy" bathrooms. Make a door.

I didn't love that they had the pool cover on all the time. I understand because the tree above it dropped stuff into it all the time but that's part of the deal really. You had to ask them to remove the pool cover to use the pool so nobody ever used the pool because nobody wanted to ask them to remove the pool cover.
