Mercure Hotel Amsterdam West

The location was convenient with good transport links into the city, and the check-in process was quick and straightforward. The room itself was a reasonable size and initially appeared presentable on arrival. However, these positives were limited and did not outweigh the issues experienced during the stay. The heating in the room was not working properly, which made the stay uncomfortable. Housekeeping was inconsistent as the room was not cleaned daily and we were left without clean towels. There was also a safety concern as the bed was not properly made or secured, which resulted in my friend falling and hitting his head. In addition, the bar closed earlier than advertised and staff were rude and unhelpful when we raised issues. Overall, the experience fell well below expectations.

Nothing to complain about as it was a short time i was there.

In the room there wasn't any book with hotel information (like time of breakfast and check out, how to adjust temperature, and so on).

The breakfast was great. And so was dinner. The property outside could use some cleaning up, like picking up the trash.

The rooms are so cold. Turning the heat on takes forever and the floor is freezing

the air conditioning was too cold and uncomfortable in the room and in the corridor

The very room was quite decent. Expensive for no breakfast and an awful and scattered internet even for year 2003. The only nearby thing is a lonely gas station. Rent the hotel bicycles or take 2-3 buses to get anywhere in Amsterdam.

Elevator was not working and when I discussed this with Hotel staff they said there was nothing they could do about that.

Location and closeness to bus bar closed a little early

The staff was very kind and helpful. The room and the bathroom were nice, the AC worked well and was not loud, and it was possible to open the window a little to get some fresh air. It was also good that it was possible to buy some basic food in the lobby and to warm it up in a microwave owen. The mini fridge in the room was not very efficient, the armchair was uncomfortable to work on with a laptop on the desk, and the armchair could use some cleaning.

The elevator is not good on level 1. (Door closing is not proper.)

Demi at the front desk was so kind and helpful even at a later hour of the evening. She made sure our room had what we needed even though the original room we booked had a maintenance issue.

It was wonderful stay, the place we first met and we went to celebrate our anniversary there. We loved it!

The location is lovely, right across the road from the hotel there's a nice river, a small play area for kids, and a pleasant walking trail. We traveled by car, so I can’t comment on public transport options. The rooms are elegant and beautiful.

I was told to go back to America simply because i asked whats the retainer fee

The noises next door because there were maybe 5 people in that room and they were loud from 5 am. Complained at the reception and they solved it in the evening but then started again in the morning

About 10 minutes of walking with the luggage and baggage is quite difficult; sometimes there is rain. -

Quick little walk to a lake nearby, which is always good.
